I know everyone's sick of these rants...and I do rant a lot in my journal... rolleyes ...but the new marketplace has really ruined this site for me. None of the folks I used to chat with hang out on Gaia anymore. Messing around in towns feels pointless since the only thing to really do with the stuff you find is sell it, and that's a pain now. Winning items through Word Bump is pointless, since I would usually just sell those, too. Fishing and and jigsaws are still fine, but there are much better games out there for me to waste my time on, and with no one to chat with and no market to play in, I've found I don't really care so much about earning gold.

I keep stubbornly hoping someone in a position to do something about it will realize how awful the new market is and fix it. [Rant] 2% tax aside, there's also no way that I've found to to view most recently added items...which makes it hard to get good bargains/sell items for a decent profit. The snapshot prices are always seriously skewed by folks charging 1,000,000 gold for useless items - making the whole "snapshot" concept worthless. The "luxury items" and "you might like" windows are a waste of space. The "auctions ending now" window is ridiculously inaccurate - the auctions showing in mine right this very minute still have 20-50 minutes left. Having my wishlist on my market page is just plain annoying. Bleah. [/Rant]

Also...my house was my second favorite thing about Gaia...and I can no longer add items to it/arrange items in it. I tried clearing it, as the site suggests, and that seems to have just made things worse. I don't seem to be the only one having this problem, and the admins don't seem to care - it hasn't been addressed at all. stare

I did buy this month's collectibles, but I'll probably just trade for the next month's at the exchange - feels silly to spend real money on something I only mess with for 5 minutes a day now, and I don't really have any other use for my gold. I'm not leaving Gaia for good - I'll still check in each day to see if anything fun's happening, and to see what sort of progress the Battle System is making...because that still looks like it could be really neat.

I do believe, though, that my addiction is officially over.
