Once upon a time there was a boy and a girl. The boy was named Arminas, and the girl was named Luthien. Luthien had a crush on Arminas for a very long time, but he was always dating someone else. Then finally, he was single and asked her out. She was ecstatic. Their relationship lasted for several months, but then, Luthien decided to tell Arminas a secret: that she hadn't ended a previous relationship before she started dating him, and that she had a small crush on another boy. Arminas forgave her. They were happy for another week or two, then tragedy struck again. Arminas told Luthien that he had been in love with a different girl since before he asked her out. Luthien was crushed, she felt that every time she had told Arminas "i love you" and he had said it back it had been a lie. Luthien broke up with him, with many regrets. It was the hardest decision she had ever had to make, and it made her feel so guilty, because she knew that he had forgiven her for a very similar offense. She spent a whole night crying so hard that it made her sick, actually physically sick. She spent hours upon hours turning it over and over in her head, changing her mind an uncountable amount of times. Her mind told her that she had made the right choice, but in her heart, Luthien knew that she would always love Arminas, and she is terribly sorry for the pain she has caused him.

The moral of this story is simple: don't keep secrets from or lie to your significant other, and if you say "i love you" make sure you really mean it.
