THE BATTLE BETWEEN MAN & BEAST The beasts bellow filled the air around the two. A fire blazed between them. The man took a few steps around the flames. The white wolf copied, letting out a snarl as they circled the crackling fire. Through the rippling images, they studied each other. Hands cradling the holsters at his sides, the dark haired man continued to circle the blazing fire. He unsnapped a clasp and sent a sudden click through the tense atmosphere around them, breaking the silence. The wolf roared out in anticipation of the battle to come. The moonlight glinted off the razors filling the wolf’s powerful jaws. The beast lunged into the air, skimming the flames. Guns drawn the man leaped back, firing two rounds into the night.
The bullets rippled through the wolf’s side, sending shards of the ribcage into the wolf’s lungs. With crackled breathing, the wolf staggered to its feet. A pool of crimson hatred formed beneath the wolf’s claws. A sly grin danced across the man’s face. The wolf let out a deafening bellow as red buds shot from its mouth. The man raised his gun, ready to take aim. A raven thrashed through the branches in a nearby willow, causing the man to direct his views to the sound. Seizing the moment, the wolf charged again, pinning the man to the ground. The snarling, blood stained muzzle of the wolf, stared into the man’s terrified eyes. He tried to reach his gun at his side, but as he moved the wolf let out a snarl from the bottom of its chest. And with a laud snarl, the wolf dived forward, piercing the man’s neck. Threads of red velvet slid don the man’s throat. The wolf’s eyes followed the man’s frantic pupils as they fell behind closing lids. Satisfied, the wolf stepped off the man and began to slowly stumble away.
Brilliant white coat stained crimson, the wolf struggled to stay on its feet. Letting out a eerie howl, the wolf raised its head to the obscured sky. The clouds shifted and moonlight shown down onto the wolf’s coat. The fur seemed to breathe in the light. The bullets fell to the ground as the wounds closed and the blood stopped flowing from the wolf’s mouth. Gazing up at the shinning moon, the wolf felt fatigued. He lay down, resting his head upon its paws. Exhaustion led the wolf into a deep, but peaceful sleep.
