For the poetry club at my school (SHUT UP!), I'm trying to create a new poem. It's to be titled: A Smile Here's the part I'm starting with. It needs a lot of work:
Just stay for a while Let me smile Hear an old man, hobble and weak to speak. Deep, man, deep. THe poem will be through the voice of an old man wanting to speak out to the modern world but no one will listen. It gives the man great joy that the listeners will listen to him.
The world today: a mess of grey Does not need a penny for a person's thoughts For it's all about money and wars long since fought But for me I know that children will grow and they can change the world today: A mess of grey.
So stop a while to hear an old man, and make him smile So give me a hand forget the age and set the stage
Talk to me, I'll talk with you Let things be and discussion true Honor your elder as your friend For aren't we better to make amends? So you be my friend I'll be yours Let's talk and debate, but mostly share the joy that you have brought me.
It needs work...but it is done.
