" QUOTABLE QOUTES "
A FLOCK OF SHEEP
llamas and a couple of herding dogs will help Fairyland's forest to stay healthy, told Spirit the surprised forest and castle audience at the gathering in the castle's magnificent garden, after Felix, Fairyland's famous magician had safely arrived home from Casa Loma in Toronto, Ontario.

Though Felix felt Spirits proposal to be a bit too experimental, the fairy queen seemed to embrace it.

Tony who loved animals thought it to be a great plan as well. He endorsed Spirit's plan right from the start. As a matter of fact, he envisioned new winter ventures for Fairyland and foresaw a dogsled to be held during the winter. The thought brought a broad smile on his handsome face.

Naturally, everyone needed more information. Spirit asked Felix to provide her with a projector for her talk the next day. Everyone parted amiably and promised to attend the upcoming meeting.

The next day everyone gathered early in the morning in the large gazebo in the castle's garden. After a scrumptious Canadian breakfast of sausages and pancakes with pure maple syrup and a dollop of whipping cream, everyone went happily chatting to the castle's board room where the meeting was going to be held.

Spirit outlined her plan on how to help the majestic evergreens, the forest vegetation, the lake, the rapids and the waterfall in Fairyland.

Sheep are the ideal animals to keep the vegetation in control using a natural way of doing this, she said enthousiastically. The llamas and dogs will herd the flock, and prevent them from wandering off, while the llamas also will keep any predators at a distance. It's just impossible to put a spell on all the animals, she said with a chuckle. The poor creatures would not be able to function properly.

The animals can graze to their hearts content, specifically in newly reforested areas. Sheep eat weeds, grasses and decidious trees, that would otherwise choke out new evergreen seedlings giving the emerging new forest life a better chance to survive. It's a brilliant eco-solution in preserving nature and the cost of herbicides, and that's not all!

The sheep's digestive enzyme inhibits the spread of weeds. Cattle and horses scatter weed seeds in their manure. The alimentary system of a sheep destroys any seeds they eat. To top it off they leave a tonne of manure for every 10 acres they graze saving money in fertilizing costs.

I propose to start the program with a few dogs, 2 llamas and a small flock of sheep and to transport the animals to different locations in the forest. We will also need to assign a few shepherds and build a couple of log buildings for shelter for the gnomes and dogs, and a large barn and pens to house the sheep and llamas. I like to suggest to choose Fairyland's North American gnomes for the building tasks and the shepherds among the Peruvian and Mexican gnomes, as they will be most suited for the tasks.
As you probably already know sheep have been used successfully for this purpose in North America from British Columbia to Oregon as well as for an urban application in Fort Saskatch-ewan Alberta, where they have been used to keep the grass trimmed back in city parks for over a decade.

Well, dear folks, that's all for today's meeting, said Spirit smilingly.

Whereupon the fairy queen stepped forward and suggested to enjoy a refreshment and a short pause before casting a vote.
Just wondering how many will vote favourably for this unique project, said Felix to Tony, while they walked away to join Spirit and the fairy queen at the refreshment bar.

The lovely fairy queen was sipping Fairyland's famous rejuvenating juice
when she overheard Felix words, she grinned and thought

' Leave it to me Felix, just leave it to me!'
