Random stuff about my day, things I've done, etc. There are also things about me.
Spark, Prince of the Firebirds (Sort of Long!)
I'm fighting a battle I can not win. My sword is too quick for my enemies, and the beak of my friend is too sharp for their armor, yet they come in numbers far beyond our imagination. We'll grow tired before we finish them off, but I can't let Spark, my companion, die here. I have forced him into this, a situation in which we can not retreat, and for that, I feel guilty.

Spark is royalty, and I, I am a mere peasant acting as a warrior. He is my only friend, and he has been true to that position since he and I were chick and child. I see such determination in his eyes and I know he is doing everything he does for me... though, at this point, I can not recall anything that I might've done to earn this friendship with the firebird prince.

I see a blade flash before my eyes, bringing my full attention back to the battle at hand. Spark whips the sword and shadow demon away with the swish of his flaming tail. He gives me a questioning glance then looks away and continues fighting. My friend has just saved me again like so many other times. I'll have to repay him somehow.

After several minutes of fighting, Spark and I realize we have been able to withstand the first massive wave, but it isn't enough. The demons have now officially surrounded the prince and I. As if adding to Spark's and my unfortunate events, we feel raindrops trickling from the darkened heavens above. Panic surges through me and adrenaline starts rushing as I realize what may happen if there is a true storm. Spark's flames would go out, instantly rendering us at huge disadvantage.

The firebird must've thought the same thing as me for he immediately started waving his tail on the ground, igniting the dried up twigs and grasses with a strong flame. I continue fighting and watching his back as he tries to light demons and dead plants on fire. Smoke from all of the fire is starting to rise high into the skies and I can see that there is an essence of hesitance among the demons and some even are starting to retreat. I nod to the clouds as if thanking whatever god might've gifted His Highness and I with such luck.

The fires are beginning to grow higher and larger around Spark and I. To protect our eyes, we put on the goggles we had equipped in case of a situation like this. Also, I pull out a large vial of oil from my sack and pour it on my blade making sure it is completely covered. I whistle to Spark and he lights my sword. We only do this when we are desperate, and we really are a bit desperate right now, obviously...

The battle continues, and I am trying to avoid backing into the walls of fire my friend had created. The number of demons seem to be depleting as Spark and I slash at the creatures and even manage to knock some of them into the fires. I flash a quick smile at Spark who seems to smile back at me, though it was only for a split second.

As the battle wears on, I feel my sword getting heavier, along with the armor I am wearing. I can tell that Spark isn't any better and it is starting to make me worry. Our attacks are definitely slowing, but not by much, just a bit. With that thought, I think I started driving myself. The rain is now pouring, but the blazing fires are too strong to be doused at the moment, which is relaxing His Highness a bit.

My attacks are now becoming a bit of a pattern. One step, stab. Two step, slice. Three step, whack. Four step, knock. It continues as I do, and I'm getting so caught up in the demons that are surrounding me, I fail to see a larger shadow coming up behind my companion.

"SPARK!!!" I scream at the top of my lungs, forgetting the creatures in front of me. The massive bird looks over at me then at the giant demon, but by then, it was too late... far too late.

I watch in horror as the demon drives a blade right through the prince's heart. Tears sting my eyes and a lump grows in my throat. I scream it away as I charge at the larger demon, ignoring the common demons' blades that slash at me as I run past them. I raise my flaming sword above my head and, with all my strength, throw the flaming saber deep into his chest cavity, puncturing his heart and burning his insides and clothing.

The demons are now standing still, lost and confused without their leader that I just destroyed. Without hesitation, I run over to Spark, who is lying on the ground in a puddle of blood that is continuing to grow. All lights from his eyes are gone, and his tail, which used to be strong with flames, was now made up of ash covered feathers. Even the fires he had started are starting to die down because of the rain.

I pour enchanted waters from another vial over his body washing away all of the blood except for the fresher liquid spurting from his chest. I lean forward onto my knees, wrapping my arms around his massive neck, hugging the corpse close to me as I cry.

This wasn't supposed to happen... He wasn't supposed to die. He was supposed to live... so he could rule his kingdom after his father... To see a brighter day... He wasn't supposed to be murdered in this Hell... while I lived... It wasn't fair... not to him...

I grab my sword from beside me and take notice that the flames had left a charred look on the blade. I smile, my tears mingling with the rain as I sat in the shadow lands. I glance over the horde and know that I have one more thing to do.

I stand, overlooking all of the creatures. I nod, my eyes scanning over the land and demons. "I, as your new leader, command all of you... to leave here at once!" I shout at the crowd before me. "Go back to your homelands! Live your life as if you had never been changed into what you are now! I do not wish for you to ever set foot in this land again! Not ever!" I continue to shout, tears welling up in my eyes again, but my face remains hardened and cold.

Slowly, I see the black monsters start to disappear into portals they have conjured. Satisfied, I turn back to the body of my friend and fall to the ground again, clutching my sword as I make the decision. I hold the sword up, holding the point to my chest, where my heart is.

Pain... Satisfying pain... Now Spark doesn't need to suffer alone... No... not anymore...

I pull the blade out, losing blood and energy as the seconds go by. I collapse onto the feathered corpse, sighing in content. Soon, everything starts turning black. The rain is singing me a lullaby and I can't help but give in to the soft melody it is playing. My eyelids close, never to open again.

Is it... over...? Can I rest now...? I'd love it if I can be with Spark in the after life... if there is one... Do you believe in Heaven and Hell...? If you do, will I go to Hell? I don't want to... but I think I deserve to... After all... I couldn't be there for someone who was there for me through thick and thin... I don't think I'll go to Heaven... but Spark should... Spark deserves it...

O.o That was sure a spur of the moment thing... Inspired by... Well... I'm not exactly sure... Hehe... hope you enjoyed it!
