Masquerade You think you know me. I'm the small girl beside you With a smile on her face Laughing at a joke that's been made
You think you know me I'm the smart girl beside you People ask me for help And I always answer with a smile
You think you know me I the fast girl beside you I run as one with the wind Smiling as I go
You think you know me But do you? If you reach out to me And pull my mask off you will see a face Unlike the one you "know"
You will see a face stained with tears From the countless tears shed And eyes empty Without hope And wide From the nights of screaming with fear From my own thoughts.
If you rip off the mask You will see a person unlike the one you "know" You will see a helpless child Abandoned long ago One that isolates herself Within her mind Wanting no friends or company To avoid farther pain
The mask is a smile Ever laughing A walll Ever defending
You Will you take away my mask? Will you help? Help me to love Hope and to live Live without a mask Because I don't it. I need to live in my own skin And I can't do it alone.
I'm reaching out Will you grab my hand? Or allow me To fade away for good.
This is a poem I wrote after we discused alchoholic families in health. The end's kinda lame, but I will fix it for sure!
