4-3 Overtime Lost
11:09 AM: Habs will be facing an Original 6 Team, The New York Rangers. Cristobal Huet will try to stop all the pucks, while his fowards and defense scores some goals. In the last two games, Montreal has scored 5 goals each. Huet has a save percentage of .931, which is leading the league right now. Captain Saku Koivu only needs one more assist to have his 400th pass!
7:45 PM: 2-1 Rangers after the first period. Both teams have been very explosive in the beginnig of the period. Henrik Lundqvist has been very good. Cristobal Huet was excellent as well. Great goal by Andrei Kostitsyn on the powerplay. Mark Streit made the puck loose, Tomas Plekanec passes upfront and top-left corner for Kostitsyn. Out PP strikes again. Great period for the two teams. Montreal has been playing with 19 players, instead of 20. Saku Koivu is missing the game because of a sickness. Corey Locke has been recalled by Montreal from Hamilton, but he did not make it because of the traffic.
9:45 PM: 3-3 after regulation. Montreal seriously needs work with our centers. It was a face-off lost that New York scored the tying goal... In OT right now.
Brendan Shanahan scores the game winner. 4-3 New York Final. That is such a great way to end the game and the year for Montreal. Bad Turnover by Roman Hamrlik... Pretty much an equal game from both sides. New York gets pass us by one point in the eastern standings...
My three Stars: 1-Brendan Shanahan 2-Chris Drury 3-Andrei Kostitsyn Honorable mentions: Tomas Plekanec, Alex Kovalev, Scott Gomez
Scoresheet: Montreal: Andrei Kostitsyn (2 goals), Tomas Plekanec New York: Dan Girardi, Jaromir Jagr, Chris Drury, Brendan Shanahan
Next Game: Tampa Bay Lightning, January 3rd
8:46 PM: 3-2 Canadiens after 40 minutes! Great comeback! Andrei Kostitsyn scores his second goal of the night, 9th of the season, and Tomas Plekanec scored on a delayed penalty. We outshoted NY 7-1. Tom Kostopoulos got a penalty with two second left in the period, so the Rangers will get a PP in the beginning of the third. Chris Higgins applied alot of pressure and did a great job keeping the puck in the offensive zone. We we're on the PP. The puck is loose on the left of the net, Kovalev goes to pick it up, he passes to Pleky. Tomas was on the right and Andrei Kostitsyn in front. #14 passes to #46 who shoots and scores! Then, Plekanec scores at 17:07 in the third period when the younger Kostitsyn gives the puck to the older one. AK passes and Tomas scored.
