Part 1:

It was raining. God, it was down pouring. A teen of about 16 walks through the forest, soaked to the marrow. His black tunic torn and dirty. A notebook clutched in his hands, trying to keep it dry. He looks about; the rain is so hard that is is hard to tell where he is going or where he even came from. Suddenly thought the mist, he sees a cottage.
"Maybe they will have a room I can use?..."
Shadow sloshes up to the cottage and knocks. After a few minutes, a timid voice answers ”who is it?’
“I’m Shadow, do you have a room I can borrow?” Shadow shouts; not sure if whoever it was could hear him over the rain. The door creaks up, a girl is standing there. She says something but Shadow can’t hear it, but she blushes furiously afterward. Shadow walks in, feeling guilty for splashing water all about the doorway. He now got a good look at the girl. She was pretty, but seem seemed to be trying to distances herself from him. This didn’t bother him at the moment, he just was happy to be out of the rain.
The inside of the house is warm; a fire is in the fireplace. The girl motions to have Shadow sit on the loveseat. Shadow unties the staff form his back and lays it against the wall, then sits down with the girl.. After seeing the girl eye his staff, Shadow answers,
“I make spells, I was out in the forest, working, when the storm came and I got lost.” Shadow says, trying himself by the fire. “I was out getting fresh air…wet fresh air,” she seemed tongue-tied. .”I have a room you can uses, it’s across from my room,” she said,. Were those tears he saw? Shadow thought to himself. “But please, stay out of my room when it is midnight.” Two tears dripped down her face. Shadow wanted to help her, but he really didn’t know who she was. ”I-I’m Serina and you are…” she says, wiping away her tears.
“Oh, I’m Shadow.” Serina seemed ice, but what was troubling her? He thought again.” It’s...nice to have company.” she seemed to want to be held, but Shadow keep to himself. Again he didn’t know her. “I guess I’ll go to my room then, “ Shadow gets up, a side glance sees her eyes pleading for him to come back. “What is that about?” shadow things closing the door. After a while, he hears the other door open, the close and soft sobbing coming from Serina’s room…and he didn’t have the slightest idea on how to help.

Part 2:

Shadow gets up, his bed as usual, covered in his work. Sketches, charts, magic circles… the works. He yawned and stretched. He couldn’t get a sound of his head…what was it? Shadow opens the door and sees that the other room is unlocked. He walks out to see Serina making food, hunched over, and seeming to be trying her hardest. “Good morn-“ Shadow begins to say, but it startles her, making her jump. ”Oh… it’s you. I didn’t expect you to get up so quietly…” She seemed to be blushing hard, practically burning.
“It’s ok, it’s ok, look, and I’m fine, see?.” Shadow says, trying to calm her down. After a bit, she calms down, “So…how long will you be here, I mean, you can stay, I have extra space so you could…” she seemed to burn herself out, probably from what she had down earlier.” Did you hear something lost night, it was quiet, and so I’m not sure what is was.” She froze, then said, “it must have been the animals…” she looked down, as if to hide her face.” I see, I guess that would make sense, I heard some wolves myself.” Shadow sat on the loveseat once again. “so what are you doing out here?” Once again, Serina seemed to freeze up. “I…I don’t like the city…it’s dangerous...” she said, then under her breath, barely audible. ”it keeps me and other safe… from me…”



To Be Continued... Don't you hate when that happens? Oh, well. Guess we'll just have to wait...
