6-1 Lost
Game Preview: *sigh* Daniel Alfredsson will play against Montreal. Dany Heatley already played on thursday, so it's gonna be one heck of match! Cristobal Huet and Ray Emery are expected to be the starting goaltenders. The season serie is 3-1 for Ottawa. Man! I can't freaking wait for it to start!
1st Intermission: Wow. As surprising as this will sound, Montreal is playing really well (no sarcasm)... except in the first five minutes. 3-0 Ottawa. The first goal is not Huet's fault, but on the second, he could have done better, I think. The defensive covewrage was awful though. After those three goals, it was amazing how the "first line", Higgins-Koivu-Ryder, made extraordinary plays. It was really to bad the alignements of the planets are in Ottawa's favor. Emery was bad and it could have easily been 4-3. Begin-Smolinski-Kostopoulos was great as well. Price came and shut the door, hoping it will give more confidence to the Habs. All Montreal needs to do is capitalize on our PP and give even more energy.
2nd intermission: The scoreboard is horrible and yet, I cannot stop liking the way Montreal is playing. 5-1 Ottawa. Yes, we aren't scoring, but atleast we're giving it all. What a play that Carey Price and Sergei Kostitsyn to Andrei Kostitsyn! I love how Carey Price handles the puck so well. Notice that all the goals were scored by the NHL's best trio/line, Heatley-Spezza-Alfredsson. Montreal needs to find players like that to win. Price has been good, while Emery, shaky. He doesn't seem good there. Many chances but all of them resulted in nothing. I wonder if Hamrlik was there, could the score be lightned?
Final:What a game. It's really to bad that Montreal lost by a difference of 5 goals, but I must admit I liked how we didn't give up and create chances, even though we didn't score. Sergei has guts, just no fightning skills, like me. I like how he stood up to Redden even though he took a hard one on the jaw. Man! It looked painful! I am beginning to adore young Kostitsyn. The only bad thing about the Habs' Roster was Ryder. He's not a playmaker and he should shoot more. Montreal would be able to win this game... If Spezza, Alfredsson or Heatley was hurt... ninja Seriously, all goals were from that line. I found that we played pretty well against the other lines. Gorges is becoming a really good useful defenseman. Montreal was one of the unluckiest team tonight. Hit the post three times, couldn't handle the puck well enough to put it in an empty net, etc. But their was no excuse why we let in three goals in the beginning of the game.
My three Stars: 1-Jason Spezza 2-Daniel Alfredsson 3-Dany Heatley
Scoresheet: Montreal: Andrei Kostitsyn Ottawa: Jason Spezza (3 goals), Daniel Alfredsson (2 goals), Dany Heatley
Next Game: Tampa Bay Lightning, February 12th
