"MONTREAL – Canadiens GM Bob Gainey announced Tuesday the acquisition of the Washington Capitals’ second round pick in 2009 (previously acquired from Anaheim), in return for goaltender Cristobal Huet.
In 2007-08, the 32-year-old Huet played in 39 games with the Canadiens. He posted 21 wins, 12 losses and 6 overtime losses, a 2.55 goals-against average and a .916 save percentage. The St-Martin d’Heres, France native was acquired from the Los Angeles Kings on June 26, 2004 with Radek Bonk, in return for Mathieu Garon and the Kings’ 3rd round pick in 2004.
Huet played in 170 career games in the NHL. He posted a 72-59-11-13 record, a 2.49 goals against average and a. 917 save percentage. He posted a 58-39-13 record in 117 career games with the Canadiens, with a 2.53 goals against average and a .918 save percentage.
Jaroslav Halak has played in 28 games with the Bulldogs thus far this season. He posted a 15-10-2 record, a 2.10 goals against average and a .929 save percentage. He participated in two games with the Canadiens earlier this season (no decision, 1.50 GAA and .947 SV %). Halak was named to the AHL All-Rookie Team in 2006-07."
