Little Busters!
5 Spontaneous Things I've Done
Yeah, I was asked this earlier today, and decided I'd like to write it out. Because, you know, talking just takes so much work, and as a sheep of the chinese zodiac, I'm well known for my laziness... (0)_(0)

Have fun reading! This is quite a bit!

1. Journey to the peak of Handke High- This was a fun one. Earlier this summer I was biking with a friend around the town and we ventured across the old high school. Feeling the need to be teenagers, we entered the school at one of the side entrances, and were walking around aimlessly up to the end of one hallway. As we peered around the corner, we noticed a table at where a woman was sitting, obviously in charge of handing out some stack of papers she had sitting there. Not wanting to be caught for some reason, we sneaked around the opposite side and up some stairs. Coming to the halfway point where it cuts in the other direction, we stood on the platform and noticed a couple windows. Now , that isn't so great in itself, but beyond those windows was the lower roof of the school. Tempting, no? So I went to one of the windows, opened it up, and we stepped out into the crisp air of the afternoon. We hung around awhile, just admiring the view, and steering clear of other windows so as not to be seen. Then I noticed to my delight a series of objects sticking out of the wall, the perfect step-stool to the next story. My friend gave me a leg up and I caught onto one of the things protruding from the side of the building, hoisting myself up to the next. But at that precise moment a voice was heard from the window we had come through. Apparently we had left the window open and she had noticed. Whoops! "Hey, you kids!" It said, a woman's voice. "You get down from there or I'm calling the cops!" Those aren't the exact words, but that was about the jist of it. So, fearing for our personal records, we headed over towards the window to get back inside. I was a tad paranoid, however, and decided I didn't quite want her seeing my face. So I jumped off the roof, landing on an electricity transformer below. I think I may have put a dent in it. Well, then my friend followed suit and took my escape route, and, not waiting for a reply from Miss Authority Figure, we grabbed our bikes and left. So how's that for spontaniety? Is that how you spell it? Or spontanaeity? Hmm... On to #2!

2. Upside down day at the post office- Yes! Upside down day! I and a friend of mine were walking to the post office so he could fetch the mail for his mother. Arriving at our destination, he got his mail and we decided to wait a bit to warm up, as it was a tit bit nipply that day. He started fooling around with the nametag of the office worker on the door, then stopped. Then I took it, flipped it upside down, and returned it to its slot. Turning around and snickering, I see an announcement board, you know, those big corkboard ones? Well, it had a ton of stuff tacked up on it, and this idea popped into my head. Why not turn EVERYTHING upside down? And that's just what we did. Even the big posters, all the informational brochures on tables (darn, the tables! That would've been great!), anything we could get our hands on and take off the walls to flip upside down. Feeling satisfied, we left the building with smirks on our faces and giggles in our mouths (that sounds funny... giggles in our mouths! Anyhoo...) and as we turned the corner to get back to his house he pointed out the back of the building, where a lone garbage can stood, right-side up of course. But not for long! I got ahold of it and, being careful not to let anything fall out, flipped it on its lid. Then we laughed some more and went back to his house. Good times...

3. WMNFL- Not much of a story to this one... At a Wal-Mart with another friend, and we went to the clearance aisle. We found one of those Nerf footballs, the ones that whistled with the tail when you threw it, and started to pass it around. Our throws got progressively longer, and harder to catch as aisles got in our way and we tried to stay out of sight of the personnel. The last time, I threw a bit too hard, and it flew over his head into some display they had up that day... so we ditched the ball and left. Quite fun, really!

4. Holiday Concert- This was just before winter, when it was just a tiny bit cold outside. I was staying at a friend's house, and we were playing some guitar in his basement, me with one of my electrics and he had his acoustic. We wanted to go to Holiday, which is a nice walk from his place. But we weren't done playing yet. This, coupled with his small amount of cash, inspired us to take our guitars with and we played for a while outside the entrance, him hoping for a donation with which he could buy some soda pop. After maybe twenty minutes and plenty of people passing by (it was evening and kinda dark too) we gave it up and went inside and I loaded up on candy and he got his pop (courtesy of me) and we went on our way, two guitarists wandering the streets, to the other side of mourning. (Wonder if he'll catch that, heh)

5. Traversing the highway tundra- On another trip with the same friend, and same destination (Holiday), this idea sparked in our heads at the same precise moment. Why not go to Wal-Mart? And why not? Because it was cold, and getting dark, and cold, and it was a heck of a farther walk than Holiday, at least five times the length. But did that stop us? Of course not! And we even decided to take a different route, this time following the highway, contrary to the normal path which wove throughout the suburbs of Elk River, doubling the length. Well, as we reached the highway, we started to follow it on the side. Just so happens construction is going on along the road and we're stepping through an area we have no business stepping in. There were hidden pools of icy water laying under the blanket of snow that carpeted the ground, and we got a little wet along the way. Also, from the direction we were coming from, there was a large bridge that crossed the Elk River, so we were either going to have to cross the highway or find some other means of getting over the river. We ended up taking the highway, of course, and it was fairly exhilirating, nearly being hit by cars several times. Surprised we didn't start a crash or something... Regardless, we soon got across and continued on our way, having to cross several more busy roads as we neared our goal. We came across a bridge holding some train tracks, and stopped for a rest. Under the bridge was at a steep decline so it was pretty cool just sitting there, watching the cars go by. Moving on, we came to the last road we would have to cross. Now, there was an intersection up aways that would have been much safer and easier to use, but that would have just been a terrible ending to such an exciting trip. So we booked it across the double-highway when we thought it safe, and came to a field of snow we would have to get by. It was interesting, see, because it was a flat landscape where we walked, and it looked stable, but the snow hid from us what was under it, which were cattails, long weeds, and the like. The snow did not completely press the weeds down, and each step we took brought us knee-deep in the stuff, until at last we came to an unused parking lot where the snow had melted. Then came a fence, which we hopped, then a more weedy field of snow, then at last we got on an actual road and stayed on it until we got to the Wal-Mart parking lot. Quite the journey, really... It took a little more than an hour altogether!

Bonus story: Did you just say what I think you just said?- Okay, I was just remembering this as I wrote all this, and had to stick it in here... Over the summer I stayed with a friend at his grandfather's house where we worked on a farm. Around the fourth of July, there was a carnival going on nearby, which we went to. We had to watch his little cousin who's around ten or so, and we were taking him on some rides with some tickets his parents provided. We got in line at the twisting one with a bunch of different pods that spin you around, can't remember the name, but anyhoo this group of strangers came up to us, looking all intimidating-like. The head of the pack said something, and I swear it was "Do you want to touch my girlfriend's butt for a dollar?" But thank goodness I said, "what?" Or things would've gotten messy! What he actually said was, "Did one you touch my girlfriend's butt?" (Don't ask me how I got what I did from that... I don't really know myself!) I said no, of course not, and he just kinda kept staring, giving me the evil eye. I'm trying to process the situation because he looks like he wants to kill, and my friend looks a little worried, and the cousin is just standing there, indifferent to the whole thing. And that was the key! The cousin! I remembered him bumping into someone as he passed by them, muttering sorry as he kept walking. She must not have heard, which started this whole mess... Well, I told the guy, and he looked wary, but he backed off and the group left, not to bother us again. Later, my friend informed me of the Indians of the area, how violent they were, and he was pretty sure they were about to jump us. What fun! He also said they probably each had some type of weapon on them, be it a switchblade or some other sharp pointy object. Ouch. Well, an inside joke stemmed from the whole thing, as in a phone call I had earlier where I explained the situation to someone I had referred to them as Mexicans, and he had corrected me, and so they came to be known as Mexican-Indians. Not funny? Guess you had to be there...
