Who ever knows where the wild lands are,
where creatures of myth and legend lie?
There is no map to this land of dreams,
of fantasies and the creations of the mind.
I was once allowed to those hallowed hills,
I once did see the beasts that lived within.
The unicorns and dragons yes,
and the not-so-known as well.
The Bandersnaches and Kangerheads,
The Hippogriffs and Nightwings.
Dogs that knew the speech of man,
and little grey rats with wings.
A sphinx in that wonderous land,
gave me advice on how to stay.
To stay here in this land, she said
I had to never grow, not one day.
How could I do that, I asked confused,
stay forever but never age.
She told me that it was up to me,
She told me that I was the only one who could make me stay.
For years I lived in that land in bliss,
savoring every day.
But finally I grew too old,
my mind and heart were not the same.
So I left that land of childish dreams,
the land I had loved so dear.
I left that land and never looked back.
... but oh now how i wish i did.
