OK, I had to write a folktale for English and want to know if I should change anything. It's really cheeeesy....


Chameleon was a very competitive animal and had to be the best at everything. One day, his friend Anteater decided that he had had enough of Chameleon. Anteater called all of his and Chameleon’s friends: Poison Dart Frog, Sloth, Anaconda and Ocelot.
“As we all have noticed by now,” Anteater said, “Chameleon is far too serious about winning all the time.”
“Yeah,” Sloth agreed, “And when he wins he brags about it to all the other animals.”
“I don’t even want to be friends with him anymore now,” Poison Dart frog added.
“Perhapssssssss,” Anaconda hissed, “We just need to teach him a lessssssson.”
They all agreed and they came up with a trick to make Chameleon change. Ocelot was sent to challenge Chameleon to a game of hide and seek.
“If we can’t find you,” Ocelot said, “then you will be named the King of all animals.”
“Ha!” Chameleon laughed, “That’s easy. You’ll never be able to find me.” As he said this he changed his colors to match his background, making himself impossible to see.
Ocelot went back to the other animals and told them that their trick was underway. None of them went to look for Chameleon like they were supposed to. Chameleon continued hiding and was ecstatic that none could see him. He would go and stand right in front of his friends and they would never notice him at all. After a while, Chameleon began to feel lonely. His friends didn’t seem to even be looking for him. They didn’t even miss him.
Chameleon decided that he would rather lose the game and be with his friends again but he was too embarrassed to face his friends. To this day, Chameleon is so ashamed of himself that he always changes his colors to match his background so that none will see him.
