Poetry
A Darker Side Of Me
You tilt your head to look above you
Your eyes reflect the sky you cannot see
An eastern wind taints that azure blue
You know the storm approaches

The fear you have buried begins to ignite
The ladder rungs become slick with lack of hope
My question is; are you to fight?
After all, falling proves so much easier

You peer down below, your grasp breaks free
I catch one of your desperate hands, only to let you fall again
As you descend, your eyes betray familiarity
Your form enveloped by the ebony abyss

But I am still your shadow, one you cannot rid
Your vessel lies broken at my feet
The words I tell you sting harsher than acid
Now brace yourself for the pain to come

I watch you clutch your sides in mental anguish
Darker that any physical pain I can bestow
Your gasps and screams are to relinquish
But only the dark, cold floor can hear you

Welcome to the world you helped create
This night is far from over
Watch as your despair congregates
The children of your demented mind

As agony reaches its climax, the blood begins to pour
Your heart racing in your idle chest
Eyes showing you have been here before
Your blood decorates the previously stained walls

As the hours pass, I resheath my sword
I smile for I can taste the flames gathering
There are two of us, which proves lord?
Or are you broken past repair?

The fires perform their lethal dance
Their hunger knows no satisfaction
You scan the horizon, yet see no chance
To escape your burning world

I stand back, unscathed, for this is my element
Everything you knew consumed heartlessly
The remaining of your hell is irrelevent
Welcome to the world you helped create

As the flames ebb and clouds shed rain
Even I begin to fade away
Is this the end, or do you still remain?
I look upon a sea of ashes

There are two of us, which one will you feed?
Or have I chosen for you?
I find you broken, alone, in your time of need
If you had a voice would you contradict me?

I turn my back to the rain, blood, and ashes
You know your prison locks from the inside out, have you lost the key?
As I disturb the waters at my feet, I see through my lashes.....

Your hand grasps the bottom rung.

This poem is basically a story. You know how you are always your own worst enemy? That is kind of the theme here. A story of how that darker side can beat you till you lay splattered on the cold floor, but somehow that other side of you always seems to be able to get back up after a fall. This is definately one of my favourite works.

Ah, I remember this one. This one was my favorite out of all the poems thou has ever written...you probably already know what I think- that it's very epic, muy, muy, bonito, and original. 3nodding
