CH. 1 Dillan’s life

Dillan Ruth loved baseball but he wasn’t that good and then a new girl came to town and she was awesome at baseball and he got a little crush on the girl, “hey um I was wondering if you could help me with pitching”.Dillan Ruth was a normal American boy that loved baseball but he wasn’t very good but that didn’t stop him from playing and practicing everyday after his job at the comic book store. Dillan always wore jeans and a T-shirt and a red baseball cap. Even though Dillan focused most of his time on baseball he had other hobbies like drawing, writing, selling his own comic books at the corner for 5$, playing the drums, and he liked sporty girls. Dillan’s little sister Ray was his biggest problem in life she was only 6 years old and he had to baby-sit her every Friday and he was told to pick her up everyday after school and he constantly complained that she ruined his life when she was born, so let’s just say that being and 18 year old brother was not a job he wanted. Yes Dillan hated his life but baseball held him together and all he wanted was to be good at it, oh and also to have a girlfriend for the prom night coming up which could change his whole life if he had just the perfect girl.

CH. 2 New girl on the block

“Hey dill what’s up!?” asked Dillan’s buddy Andy “oh nothing Andy I was just thinking” said Dillan “ ‘bout what?” asked Andy “ ‘bout baseball what else” said Dillan “ah of course” said Andy “so what ‘bout baseball got you thinking so hard?” asked Andy “how I should pitch” said Dillan “I didn’t know you could pitch boy” said Andy surprised “yeah well since I’m no good at anything else I’m gonna try it” said Dillan and he unlocked the comic book store “well you keep thinkin’ ‘bout that and I’ll be the cashier” said Andy “thanks bud” said Dillan “no problem mate” said Andy sitting down to read the newest comic book. Ding went the bell on the door and then a strange new girl walked in she had a baseball cap on, dirty and ripped jeans , with a dirty tank-top, she had blond messy hair that was pulled back into a ponytail and she was chewing gum, “hello miss I don’t believe I’ve ever seen you around” said Andy “yeah I’m new here and as I was jogging ‘dis morning I saw this store and I wanted to come check it out” said the girl “well I bet my friend Dillan over there could help you” said Andy pointing at Dillan who was now looking up from his work “oh yeah I could help you, what do you want?” asked Dillan “well, do you have anything new?” the girl asked “yup right over there is our newest volume of Toxic Mania” said Dillan “oh I already have that one” the girl said “what!? but that was just released” said Dillan “well I got it a week ago from where I used to live” the girl said “well hey my bud Dillan makes comics maybe you’ll want one” said Andy “oh do you?” asked the girl “yeah but hey aren’t that good” said Dillan “well could I see one?” asked the girl “sure” said Dillan reaching for his collection of his comics “here ya go” he said handing the girl his box full of them, “wow these are good, ya know I make my own as well” said the girl “well do ya now may we see one?” asked Andy “oh I don’t have them with me” said the girl “what’s your name miss?” asked Andy “my name is Haley but my friends call me homey” said the girl “well it’s nice to meet you Haley” said Dillan “nice to meet you to” said Haley “oh my I have to go” she said suddenly and she left, “interesting that girl” said Andy “yeah interesting” said Dillan dazed a bit.

CH. 3 Haley the pitcher

“Hey Dill where do ya think our new lady friend is?” asked Andy the next day “I dunno” said Dillan writing in the words of a new bubble in his new comic book then suddenly the bell on the door rang and Haley came in with the same jeans but a cleaner T-shirt “well speak of the devil” said Andy “hey guys sorry I had to run out yesterday but I had to go to something” said Haley “oh don’t worry ‘bout that, so you gonna buy something today?” asked Dillan “umm yeah I think I’ll buy one of your books” said Haley “one of mine?” Dillan said “yeah you’re really good,” said Haley “well thanks um they are only five dollars” said Dillan “OK here ya go” said Haley and she handed Dillan a five and he put it in the register “hey what collage do you guys go to?” she asked “oh just Greenfield” said Dillan “wow really!? me too! I just transferred in” said Haley “hey maybe you could show me around since tomorrow is my first day” she added “yeah that would be great” said Andy “OK see ya at school bye!” Haley said and she waved and left, “wow that girl is really nice” said Andy “yeah nice” said Dillan dazed again. “hey guys!” yelled Haley at the other end of the hall “hey!” Dillan and Andy yelled “so what do you have first?” asked Dillan coming up to Haley who was a bit angry about the uniform she had to wear “I have math” she said “OK well that’s right over there” said Dillan pointing to the math room “OK so how about we meet here after every class” said Haley “that sound great to me!” said Andy “OK see ya!” said Haley and she waved and went to math while Dillan and Andy went to Language class. Pretty soon it was lunch time for Dillan and Andy and Haley had gym class, “hey look over there the girls are playing baseball” said Andy “yeah let’s eat and watch them” said Dillan so they go over to the bleachers and sit down to eat and to watch the girls play, “hey Dill isn’t that Haley Pitching?” asked Andy “oh yup sure is” said Dillan looking over at the pitchers mound “wow she’s pretty good” said Andy “yeah real good” said Dillan taking a bite out of his tuna sandwich. Later Haley came over and sat down with them “hey guys” she said “hey Haley you didn’t tell us you could play baseball” said Andy “well you didn’t ask” said Haley “well ya know Dillan here plays baseball too” said Andy chewing and talking at the same time “oh really!? are you good” Haley asked “oh no I’m not that good I don’t have a position to play” said Dillan “well I could coach you” offered Haley and then some nearby Preps heard that and said “oh yeah Dillan you should take coaching from a girl that should help, not!” and they laughed and left and Haley was glaring at them “no I don’t need help I’m fine” said Dillan ashamed “oh it’s because I’m a girl isn’t it?” asked Haley angrily “well no that’s not it, it’s part of it but not all of it” said Dillan ashamed and guilty a bit and Haley huffed “jerk!” she yelled and she punched him in the stomach causing him to throw up on the bleachers and she left “man she has and attitude problem” said Andy helping Dillan up and all Dillan could do is sigh and finish his lunch.

CH. 4 Desperate for anything

“Hey man you still bummed that Haley hates you?” Andy asked walking on the sidewalk “yeah a little bit” said Dillan “well don’t worry man I’m sure she’ll talk to ya tomorrow” said Andy and he opened up the shop and turned the lights on “yeah you’re probably right” said Dillan and he went straight to work on his new comic book. “hey you never put a girl in your comics” said Andy looking over Dillan’s shoulder “huh? oh yeah” said Dillan dazed “hey you aright?” asked Andy “yeah I’m fine” lied Dillan “I’m just thinking about the game and Haley” he added Andy chuckled “you think to much” he said and he flipped Dillan’s hat off “hey” said Dillan finally cracking a smile and reaching for his hat, then the bell on the door rang and the boys looked up to find Haley glaring at them, “Haley” said Dillan and he stood up and put his cap on “look I didn’t come here to talk I came because you have my schedule remember?” Haley said very crossly “oh yeah it’s in my pocket” said Andy and he took it out and handed it to her, “thank you now I have a game to win goodbye!” Haley said and she stormed out of there letting the door slam behind her and Dillan was speechless for the rest of the night. In the morning Dillan didn’t feel any better about Haley and he had the big tournament coming up and the team was counting on him to get better. When he got to school Haley was in her class and she saw him staring at him and she glared and he looked away when he found Andy he was reading comics “hey Andy” said Dillan
“hey” said Andy “you got a date yet?” he asked “no not yet” said Dillan and they went to class. Later a t lunch Dillan saw Haley in gym again and he sat on the bleachers with Andy and ate lunch. When Haley saw them she glared and went straight to lunch to avoid them. Later that night Dillan’s parents called the comic book store to tell him that he didn’t need to baby-sit, “OK but why?” he asked “we hired a new baby-sitter” they said “OK” said Dillan and they said goodbye and hung up “hey what was that about?” asked Andy “I don’t need to watch ray tonight” said Dillan and he went back to work on his comic book. When Dillan got home he found Haley sitting on the couch watching TV, “Haley?” he asked and she turned around “oh you’ve got to be kidding me” she said “what are you doing here?” asked Dillan “I’m baby-siting” said Haley and then they just stared at each other then finally Dillan asked “hey um I was wondering if you could help me with pitching” “I thought you didn’t want help from a girl” said Haley angrily “come on I really need help please” begged Dillan “well OK” said Haley.

CH. 5 intense training

Dillan had never been so tired in his life after what Haley had been putting him through. He had to run 10 laps and then throw and catch all the balls she threw at him and he had to bat until his hands were sore and he hadn’t even started on pitching yet, “Haley! When am I going to start pitching?” asked Dillan out of breath “soon enough” said Haley handing him a water bottle ‘that’s what she always says’ Dillan thought “come on I’ll help you pitch now” said Haley smiling and Dillan sighed in relief and he pitched one and it went about two feet in front of him, and Haley just huffed and went to pick it up, “OK look you are letting go of the ball to late you need to let go of it earlier see like this” says Haley and she pitches a ball and it goes over the plate “see” she said and she makes him go get it and try like she did over and over. “hey man!” said Andy walking up to Dillan who was sprawled over the lunch table “Haley got you ‘workin hard huh?” he added and he helped Dillan up “agh you would never be able to live after 10 weeks after her training” said Dillan exhausted, then some nearby Preps walked over “so Dillan we heard that you need help from a girl to win” they said and laughed and Dillan just looked down and sighed “yeah and he’s getting better! better than you even!” yelled Andy “oh yeah? well let’s see Dillan” they said and Dillan just stared at the floor panting and out of breath, then suddenly the leader of the preps fell down and behind him was Haley with her fist clenched “Maybe you need some help standing” she said glaring at him and he just got up and ran off with his friends behind him “thanks Haley” said Dillan “no problem they were wimps” she said and she handed him water and then they went to class. After school Dillan and Andy went to their job and 10 minutes after they got there Haley walked in, “Dillan! you were supposed to meet me at the field 5 minutes ago!” she yelled walking up to Dillan “yeah and I told you that I had to work tonight” Dillan said looking up from his work, Haley just sighed and said “Dillan if you want to get any better you have to sort out your schedule” and she sighed “well you can’t blame the guy for not wanting to do baseball every second of his life Haley” argued Andy “oh cut the cheap accent Andy we all know you moved here from Wisconsin when you were two” snapped Haley and Andy stopped talking “look I’ll skip dinner and go to the field then” said Dillan going back to work, and Haley thought it out and finally agreed “OK but no later” she said and left, “hard to get along with that one” said Andy “you have no idea” said Dillan and he laughed and kept working.

CH. 6 the tournament

Dillan kept training with Haley until the very last day until the tournament. “Haley I don’t think I can do this” said Dillan right before the first game of the tournament “but Dillan you’re great! ever since I trained you you’ve gotten better” Haley said slapping him “yeah but I can’t do good if you aren’t there beside me and yelling in my ear” he said looking at the ground and rubbing his cheek where she slapped him and she just laughed “well I’ll be in the bleachers and screaming my head off so you have nothing to worry about” she said and they went into the dugout and waited for the game to start. Eventually the time came to the last game and it was Dillan’s team against that preps team and Dillan got nervous, “hey man you’ve done great now we just have to beat this team and we’ll win” said Andy patting Dillan on the back “yeah I know” said Dillan and he just sat there and waited for the game to begin. Suddenly his cell phone started to ring and he answered it and his eyes opened wide and when he hung up Andy asked “what was that?” “Ray’s missing!” he yelled and he ran out of the dugout and Haley saw him and ran up to him “what happened!?” she asked stopping him “my sister’s missing!” he said “what! but you have a game in 30 minutes!” she said “so! my sister is missing I need to find her” he said “we need you to win!” Haley yelled “look you take my place if it’s so important!” Dillan yelled and Haley thought about it but then she said “I can’t” she said “then we’ll loose” he said and he pushed her out of the way but she held his wrist “I’m coming with you” she said and they ran off to find her. Luckily after Andy heard that Ray was missing he stalled the game so Dillan and Haley could find her but when they did it was not what she did that was bad but what she looked like, “Ray!” yelled Dillan as he saw her and Ray was just sitting in an alley with gashes on her body and a black eye and she was muddy and dirty “what happened!?” asked Haley as she ran up to her and Dillan “I got lost when I was riding my bike and I was hit by a car and no one was around” said Ray while Dillan ripped his jersey and wiped the blood off her “oh Ray!’ said Haley “what in the hell were you thinking riding your bike when mom and dad weren’t around to watch you!” yelled Dillan with a nasty look on his face and Ray just cried and then Dillan got soft in the face and hugged her “you scared the hell out me” he said “out of us both” added Haley smiling and they took Ray home and then went back to the game and they were almost too late, “hey man how’s Ray did you find her?” asked Andy when he saw Dillan and Haley coming up “yeah she’s fine and we brought her back home” said Haley and Dillan just ran into the dugout “what’s with him?” asked Andy ‘he was worried he wouldn’t get to play the last game” said Haley and she laughed and sat on the bleachers. It was now the last inning of the game and it was all tied up and now it was up to Dillan to send Andy home with one huge hit and he was getting nervous because it was all up to him and he was secretly planning to ask Haley to the prom in that was tonight after his games but when he got up to bat he flashed back to Haley’s training and he swung with all his might but missed two balls and he was so nervous now but then he heard Haley yell out “go Dillan hit it out of the park! I know you can!” and he swung at it and it flew out of the park and hit a car in the road and he had his first home run ever and he was declared the hero of the game. After everyone settled down Haley ran up to Dillan and gave him a kiss on the cheek and said “that was great!” and Dillan blushed and Andy was speechless then Dillan smiled “Haley would you go to the prom with me tonight?” he asked and she just looked at him and then she said “OK”.

CH. 7 10 years later

Now it’s been 10 years since Dillan hit his historic home run ball and he and Haley were now married and had one son that they named Gorge babe Ruth and Dillan taught him all about base ball and he and Haley were his coaches in mini league baseball and you can tell that he became the legendary Babe Ruth. Now I bet you’re wondering about Dillan and Haley’s baseball Career, well let’s just say that Dillan and Haley were the two best baseball players of there time and that they loved each other a lot, so much in love that they died together at the very same time in a car crash on there way to Minnesota to live there for the rest of their lives. Yes it was tragic and yet a historic life of Dillan Babe Ruth.
