Ranting and raving and just whatever
Little RP Rant.
User ImageDreaming is still how the strong survive....

Ok, so...
I've recently been in the mood for one of those silly little romance RPs. You know, "Three boys and three girls have always been friends and now it's their senior year. They're going on a trip across the country. Feelings have emerged between the friends. Will these feelings become something or not?" One of those. So, Barton is lacking in that department right now. Because of this, I go into The Gaian Neighborhood subforum which has plenty =D

Ok, admittedly, they're all kinda the same. And I don't just mean plot-wise either, but also the way they're set up, rules, and the like.

Similarities:
**All the titles have some sort of fancy character in them or use numbers in place of letters. Tactfully, of course**
**The first post is always a song with some sort of black and white emotive picture above it or next to it or 3 icons**
**All the posts are decorated with emotive photos or icons**
**You have to have a set posting style with a picture of your character**
**Speaking must be in your character's color**
**They expect several paragraphs to be written**
**They take FOREVER to be set up and the person setting it up usually leaves off in the middle to get offline**
**They expect the RP to be long term and people to post, yet they themselves post maybe once a day**
**THE RPS ARE THE SLOWEST MOVING THINGS EVER!!!**

I can deal with most of the similarities. However, this bull about starting to set up a good RP and then stopping? It's not Ok. If you're going to be making an RP, do the initial setup in Word or NotePad so you can just copy and paste it into the forum. I do that because it's out right RUDE to keep RPers waiting and constantly refreshing the page or checking their thread subscriptions only to see the creator got off. And then, they make this big deal about paragraph length and all that stuff and that you better post at least x amount of times a week or they'll kick you out. Well how am I supposed to post x amount of times if you aren't posting back to me??? I swear, in most of the RPs I joined, I'm lucky if I post once a day! And it's the creator who isn't posting! No wait, that's a lie. It's all these uber-literate freaks who look down on anyone who only posts one line yet they don't have the gaul enough to keep an RP going.

And that's another thing. I can understand you don't want one liners, yes. But you do realize that sometimes it's hard to reply back with one to two paragraphs EVERY TIME. I mean, think about it:

RP Boy
James smiled at her and took her hand in his, pulling her close to him. "I hope we're together forever," he whispered in her ear. James' heart was pounding in his chest as he began the next part of his romantic speech, getting down on one knee and reaching into his pocket, pulling out a small black box. "Michelle, I have a confession to make... I've always loved you and, well... Will you marry me?" He could feel every aspect of his body as he spoke, aware of every last inch of skin. If she didn't say yes, he didn't know what he'd do.

James had always loved Michelle, more than he'd ever admit to anyone. Before they ever started dating in high school, almost back to the first time they had met. It had always been his dream to marry her and if she said yes, his dream would be coming true soon. He waited anxiously for her answer, staring into her bright green eyes as he did.

So see, it was hard enough getting that paragraph into two! I mean, it makes so much more sense to be like:

RP Boy Shorter
James pulled Michelle towards him, holding her close to him. "You know I've always loved you," he whispered in her ear before nervously getting down on one knee. "Michelle..." he began, "Will you marry me?" He was extremely nervous as he asked this, because after all, he had always loved her since the first moment he laid eyes on her.

But no. That's unacceptable. And then the next RPer is expected to reply with two paragraphs to the first RPer with x amount of sentences per paragraph in them! Of course, I don't think people necessarily COUNT the sentences, but still. I mean, I could understand if you were writing a novel, but in novels, you control more than one of the characters! And in a novel, each character does not get 2-5 paragraphs to themselves ALL THE TIME. If you did that, the characters would never be able to interact, which is the problem with demanding that many paragraphs per post, the other characters have so much s**t to react to in their next post, it gets ridiculous!

But yeah. What was really annoying me is just... all of it xD Like the whole fact that people start RPs then stop making them half way through. Then, they don't post and nor do the other people in the RP because they are much too literate to actually sit and RP back and forth with a person for more than 5 minutes. >^< (Nose in the air, lol)

But yes. That is my RP rant. Bunny is now out =D

My small rp rant within yours!

Sample posts
They annoyed me. I understand the reason for them, to make sure we dont have any "noobs" in your literate roleplay. But sample posts made all of your writting skills come down to one little post.

I've seen the greatest writters have bad posts, so am I susto keep my crowning moments just in wow and impress other roleplayers?

No, thats just dumb
