One thing I've noticed is the fact that I've always had a creative mind. Because of that, I'm always thinking up things. I have finally decided to put my ideas into writing... Because of that, I have started on my first of hopefully many stories to come. Here is the prologue and the first chapter of a story I have yet to title...

Prologue

There are many worlds out there… Many, people are sadly unaware of them. Most humans are unaware of many things however. The existence of other worlds is something that cannot be ignored. The time is coming when inhabitants of those “other” worlds will infiltrate our own world in an attempt to take it over. They will make use of the ancient arcane magic of old… They will draw upon us their trained blades and will force us to yield to them… There is not much time left, human ignorance is reaching a climax. Not all are ready, not all will survive, but still there are those who must stand up to fight… To fight the shadow that is looming over mankind’s existence…

Chapter I

“Hurry up Ken, school’s out already, ” said an oddly familiar voice. Slowly raising his head up he answered Davis, “Huh, school’s out? But we just came in.” “Yeah like an hour ago,” Davis growled already starting to get annoyed with his friends relaxed attitude, “come on I have an essay I still need to finish!” Suddenly Ken realized what time it was and replied, “Oh yeah that essay huh, what did I do with that again. Oh right I- WAIT… We had an essay due!” Suddenly losing it Davis pulled Ken up to his face and literally shouted, “Yes we got an essay this Monday due for Friday and today is Thursday, Is there anything else that you would like to know before I totally ditch you and go home!” Shocked by Davis’s sudden anger he quickly replied, “Well I was wondering if you wanted to go take a stroll to the park with me today but I guess that you’re busy so I’ll go by myself.” “Ah forget it, you’re hopeless Ken! I’m leaving!” Davis managed to say under his breath as he rushed out of the classroom.

“There’s Davis for you,” Ken said to himself watching the short, curly haired teen rush out of the classroom, “always in a hurry. Oh well, I guess I’ll go to the park now!” he said suddenly smiling despite the current situation and started to head out. Suddenly he crashed into someone quite familiar, Ellen. “Oh sorry Ken,” she quickly apologized as she started to gather her fallen books together, “ I didn’t see you there, I just forgot my notebook in class so I was kind of in a rush to get it back.” As Ken helped Ellen get her books back together she couldn’t help but notice her lean somewhat athletic figure. Ellen was just an inch shorter than he was, had flowing black hair which she always played with, good at soccer, guitar, and at academics in general. “Oh it’s no problem,” he quickly said as he snapped back into the reality. “I was just on my way out as well, I was planning to head over to the park after school but I kind of fell asleep in class.” The second Ellen heard that Ken was heading to the park she couldn’t help but perk up, “The park, can I come too!” she said barely noticing that she startled Ken. “Oh sure!” Ken said remembering how much Ellen enjoyed sitting in the park with her guitar and just playing a random tune. “Let me just grab my guitar outside the class and we’ll get going ok?” Ellen said as she started to march out of the classroom to go pick up her guitar case she left outside the classroom before she came running in.

Just as soon as they got to the park, Ken noticed that the wind started picking up. Suddenly there was a gust of wind that somehow knocked both him and Ellen down. “Ken…” said an unknown voice, “Ken, listen… You must find the courage… to stop the world from entering a world of chaos…” Suddenly Ken felt Ellen jostling him, “Hey Ken, are you alright?” “Oh yeah I’m fine,” He replied quickly getting back up, “what about you, didn’t you get knocked down as well?” “Oh yeah I’m fine,” Ellen said suddenly looking quite worried, “um… Ken, I suddenly remembered that I needed to go somewhere. Catch you later ok?” Ellen then quickly made her way out of the park back to her house.

Seeing that there was no point in staying at the park with the strong winds, he started back home. Upon arriving however he noticed that his mom wasn’t home yet but that her papers were on the table. He then quickly noticed a not on the refrigerator that said that she was out for a second to just get some more milk. “Hmm, well I have no milk to drink right now so I guess I’ll start on my essay” he said as he turned to walk upstairs. When he got upstairs however he saw a report on his desk that suspiciously was the correct essay due the following day. When he read over it shocked him at the fact that he would’ve used the same words if it had been him typing it himself. Since his only other assignment was to study, which he never did. Ken decided that he’d take a nap before going online to chat with his friends.

“Ken…” it was the mysterious voice again, yet when he tried to move he found that he was somehow paralyzed. Ken quickly figured that he was still dreaming but started to wonder why he was hearing this voice in his dream. “Ken… are you ready?” said the mysterious voice. “Ready for what? Wait, who are you and what are you doing in my dream?” Ken said quickly realizing that this was not ordinary dream. “Are you ready to defend those you care about. A great shadow is coming; it shall engulf everything in its misery and despair. Not all shall escape the ruin. Only those who choose to gain the strength necessary to combat this darkness can survive… However surviving may be even harder than being engulfed. That is why I, Lantis, protector of the worlds inhabitants must warn people and help them cross the void to the Over World…” “Wait, so you’re telling me that a darkness is coming and that I am a “chosen” one who must help stop it?” Ken said realizing that this may be very more than a dream. “No, you are not to fight to prevent it but to survive it… There is no way to defeat the shadow, you can only survive it.” “Wait so does that mean that millions of people will die in this “shadow” “Indeed, you are starting to understand… My time here is not long, find the… artifact… channel you power into it, that is the key to the Over World, the only place safe from the shadow… for now…” Suddenly Ken noticed that he started to drift away again.

Suddenly Ken heard the beeping of the alarm clock and realized that he must’ve slept till morning. He suddenly saw a note on his door that said that school was canceled today due to a freak accident with a pipe repair. He remembered that his mom had to leave early this morning so he got up and made some instant noodles for breakfast as he logged onto the Internet. Immediately Ken found that most of his friends were on talking about the freak accident and how it occurred. He suddenly got e-mail from Ellen asking to go meet her at the park right away. Knowing that she’d hurt him if he didn’t show that she’d hurt him.

When he got to the park he quickly realized that Ellen had called not just him but the whole gang, Davis, the tall yet skinny Cody known as a klutz, the always peppy Kari with her wavy black hair, and the kitty like Nami and her dangling pony tail. “You’re late!” Ellen said running to him. Ken replied quickly, “I got here as fast as I could” before she cold hit him. “As fast as you could walk! I said to come here immediately!” as she suddenly stopped in front of him. Realizing that she wasn’t going to kill him, Ken said, “Hey why’d you call us here?” “Dunno, I just wanted to hang out I guess!” Suddenly the same strong wind from the day before came and once again and swept everyone off his or her feet.

“The time has come… are you willing to protect those dear to you that are present here today… the shadow is upon us… you must choose now…”

“Did you guys hear that?” Ken shouted over the howling wind. “Hear what? The wind?” said Cody as he fell when he tried to get up again. Suddenly an old man walked up to them and slowly said, “The key to the Over World…” as he handed a katana to Ken. There was suddenly a flash of light and the old man disappeared as so did most of their surroundings. They found that everything around them had been engulfed in darkness.

“What’s happening?” said Nami as she hid behind Davis. “I don’t know but get off me!” Davis yelled as he struggled to break free of Nami’s hold. Suddenly a dark tendril started up Kari’s leg as she screamed, “Ah someone help me!” Without thinking Ken immediately unsheathed the sword and slashed at the tendril. As it fell however another one replaced it as it started to pull her down. Ken quickly realized that the same tendrils were all over everyone else when suddenly the sheath of the sword disappeared and was replaced with a glowing orb. “What is this!” Ken said, as the orb seemed to move his arm to the sword. The orb instantly fused into the blade and gave the blade a peculiar shine as it hung weakly from his hand.
“Ken, use your spirit’s power… release yourself… save yourself…”

“OBLIVION PULSE” as the same glow around the blade flooded his body and went out in a shock wave causing the tendrils around him to disappear. Suddenly however, the reality he held so dear to started to flow away with the darkness.
