I opened my eyes and found myself lying in the tall reeds near the pond.
Chi lay across my stomach, curled in a ball as she slept.

"Darnit..." I mumbled. I'd fallen asleep again. I couldn't remember if Chi had fallen asleep, or I had first. Either way, it was now almost sunset. She wouldn't want to sleep tonight if I let her sleep more. "Chi.." I said softly, nudging her awake. She stirred, blinking her bright red eyes at me again as she drowsily woke up.

"I took a nap." She giggled after she'd woken up. She held my hand with her tiny fingers as we walked back twords the 13th division quarters. "I didn't mean to fall asleep." I chuckled, apologizing. That was the farthest I had gotten in my dream in a while. And I hadn't cried out. If I did, Chi would surely have woken up to it. Maybe Amaya was right. Maybe I could get over it if I talked about it, or just let myself think about it.

As much as I hated to...

Ukitake greeted us at the door, Amaya close behind him as he reached down and grabbed Chi, wrapping his arms around her and hugging tightly. "Papa missed you!" He cooed as Chi giggled. "Sorry Papa, I was with Rizzy." She said smiling happily. "He told me stories about when he lived in the human relm." She said as she snuggled up into her fathers shoulder and yawned.

"Did he now?" Ukitake asked, smiling into his daughters shoulder as he looked over to me. I tried to smile a little, to reassure him nothing bad was told. Just the good things. He didn't know my tale, but he knew to be an Arrencar, something had to have happened involving death and not being helped by a soul reaper..."Sorry we're back kinda late..." I said nervously, looking over to Captain Ukitake. "We, kinda napped..." I said, rubbing the back of my head at an itch that wasn't there.

He didn't seem angry, but more focused on getting Chi to bed. She was falling asleep in his arms. "Thanks for playing with her today." Ukitake said to me with a smile as he ruffled his hand through my thick curly hair. "No problem." I answered as he let go of my head and headed off down the hall, leaning over and pecking a kiss on Amaya's cheek as he passed.

"You talked about the human world?" Amaya asked after Ukitake and Chi had gone. I nodded. "Yeah, a little... Nothing scary." I reassured. She nodded a little. "Dreams gotten any better?" She asked. She heard him say they'd napped. I shrugged. "I guess....I didn't wake up screaming again.." I muttered, embarrassment flaming over my cheeks. "Glad to hear." Amaya said as she clapped a hand around my shoulders and we headed down the hall. Ready to turn in for the night.

Maybe I can get through this...

Maybe I can sleep through the whole dream tonight....
