woot!

sorry that I forgot to make review for Metroid Prime 3, but let get to Brawl

simply put, I ROCK at Brawl with few characters such as:

Pokemon Trainer
Meta Knight
Wario
Ike

you better watch out. I am verstile with Pokemon Trainer, fast and wild with Meta Knight, just gosh darn crazy with Wario, and very precise with Ike.

oh yeah, and Metroid Prime 3 review on the go!

Metroid Prime 3: Corruption review

this game is one of the finest that Nintendo have offered in recent memory, falling in line with highly quality-made and deeply polished titles like LOZ: Twilight Princess and Mario Galaxy rich with addicting gameplay and jaw dropping graphics. It is one of best ambitious Metroid title yet since Super Metroid and first Metroid Prime, but is it best ever and my absolute favorite?

Graphic

oh comon, this is one of the most beautifully crafted title ever to grace on any of Nintendo console and Retro Stuidos absolutely outdone themselves again. Their art team need a raise because you won't ever find any other titles that have one-of-the-kind art direction.

This is the new bar established in creating believable worlds that are rich with culture, architecture, and wildlife, each with individually unique traits that set them apart from each others. Byyro have tribal life deep within hot jungle and wasteland, Elysia filled with floating Skytowns high above the clouds, Pirate Homeworld warped with beds of technology and pollution.

The attention to details are amazing and unmatched and the new bloom effects are used to great length, bolstering the dark atmosphere without being too colorful or too bright. The only downside is that while the game looks amazing, it looks like upgraded Gamecube game that both of previous Prime games runs on. It bit of downfall, but not by too much because art design and other factors lift it up instead of letting the game falters.

9.7/10

Sound

the sound effects are put to great uses. The weapon fires sound powerful, the creature growls frighteningly, and environment reacts immersively. While the massive soundtrack is quite fitting, I feel that they lost the oomps and awes of previous two games' soundtracks, which sounds better. What even sadder is that I have none of song being my favorite of game, which is disappointing considering that Prime 3 soundtrack is barely memorable. This is forgivable since Nintendo is experimenting with orcharchized musics, which Twilight Princess also have good, yet forgettable soundtrack.

great sound and music, yet they're not worth remembering. Torvus Bog and Magmoor Cavern will always have place in my heart. Sorry, Prime 3.

Oh, and voice actings are very well done.

Gameplay

one word

ADDICTING

aiming with Wii-mote felt so natural and free, it instantly hooked you and pull you deep into the atmosphere-filled title. Even while locked onto an enemy, you can still aim freely at other enemies and blast them into oblivion and it all so satisfying. I dare you to try No Lock On Challenge, you will guarentee to lose it. I lost it myself because of final boss x.=.x

there may be less items than Metroid Prime 2, but they're still integrated well into the exploration aspect. Even with less items and planets to go to by gunship, the immersive exploration is still right there, as plain as any Metroid games could offer. It so fun to walk around and explore the worlds, awing at natural wonders while you solve puzzles and fight enemies to get into next area or retrive an item to further assist you in your adventure. It is just as good as previous Prime games.

It may be mission structured like Metroid Fusion's, but the missions blend so well with the exploration that it is more of blooming and acceptance of mission structures instead of hinderance like Fusion's. One of main downfall is that the puzzles are kinda easy and less in number than Prime 2: Echoes, even if they're still satisfying and very different than what i encountered in many games.

However, the boss battles, while some can be fun and interesting, have less of excitement and intensity than previous Prime games. Maybe this was developers' intention due to catering the game toward less experienced gamers, but I didn't feel any of excitement and eagerness to defeat a boss (except for Meta Ridley, Rundas, Heilos, Commander, and Dark Samus, they rocks!). I know Retro Studios tried to make boss fight very interesting and provide some of challenges, but they partially live up to hypes while others failed to capture my attentions. Don't get me started on final boss, EASIEST and MOST BORING final boss in any Metroid game ever. Huge disappointment.

One more thing: Grapple Lasso ROCKS!

9.7/10

Plot

this game have very interesting and epic plot going on and its connect up loose ends found in both of Prime games, tying up into very satisfying end that all made sense.

Dark Samus is back and this time, she's delivering her evilness across the galaxy, which is more evil than pizza delivery. She got Space Pirates under her bidding and soon waged war on Galatic Federation just when their defenses are down. Samus and other Hunters are tasked to assist the Federation to back Pirates' invasion and investigate the Seeds that crashed into other planets. Along the way, the Hunters (Samus included) got corrupted by Dark Samus herself and only Samus is the only one to stop this threat that could spell doom for entire galaxy.

The plot is just as intense and interesting as previous two titles, engaging you into hostile environments while figuring out how to succeed against Dark Samus is top rated in industry, perhaps better than what Halo 3 tried to succeed. The game is heavily story driven delivered incredibly by cutscenes and lores, more so than both of Prime games and they still fits well into Metroidness gameplay.

Only complaint is that Federation didn't have their men fall to corruption. I wish that happened because the situation and that everything in stakes will fall entirely on Samus' shoulders, making atmosphere more dangerous and dreaded and isolated than it should be toward the end of game. Oh well, at least i do enjoy the conclusion and the hinting of next Metroid game.

9.3/10

my final opinions! Great Metroid game? YES! My favorite Metroid game of all time? well... no, not really no. I had huge HUGE expectations from this game and almost all of them exceed them. My choices of favorite Metroid games remains with Super Metroid and Metroid Prime 2: Echoes, mainly because of better atmosphere, darker memorable story, deeper gameplay, more fun puzzles, and highly intense and challenging bosses (including the best ever final bosses). But I will still recommand anybody to play Prime 3 because of incredible gameplay and awesome worlds to explore while expriencing epic storyline that few other games could match with.

Final score! 9.6/10

thank you, Avek
