Part four

While everyone booed and hissed I hung my head shamefully and told them how I had gone beyond the boarders of our land and been caught by Red-eyes men. Then instead of keeping my mouth shut I became Red-eye’s spy not only finding the Element Orbs but destroying them as well. It was then that I heard Pep’s cry of rage and watched
In horror as he broke away from the group charging towards me; ready to kill. I saw his legs tense as he prepared to lunge at me and screaming in fear I raised my arms ready to be knocked down with his teeth embed in my throat. But the lunge never came and lowering my arms I noticed the shocked and saddened looks of the villagers; they were looking on the ground in front of me and I looked too. The ground was stained red and I saw Pep lying on the ground, blood gushing from the fresh wound on his back.
His breath came out in gasps and he struggled to his feet determined to rip my throat out but the soldier who had attacked him raised his bloody tail and struck him again only this time much deeper. I watched as he slumped forward his eye wide and never leaving mine. With his last bit of energy he glared at me and said, “You traitor.” Then his head fell to the ground and his body relaxed as he drew his final breath.
Red-eye snorted and growled, “What a bloody fool; get rid of his worthless carcass.”
The villagers cried out in rage and were pushed back but I only fell to my knees staring at the blood; too shocked to say or do anything. I glanced behind me to see Whitefeather in an absolute rage as he yelled, “That was uncalled for!”
“Was it? He came charging; who’s to say he wasn’t aiming for me?” Red-eye asked in a bored voice.
Whitefeather snarled and looking at me furiously hissed, “You know damn well he wasn’t going after you but this traitor right here!”
“Ah well, to late now in any case. Men put the hood back on his head and place this fool back with the others, I’m sure they’d like to have a little word with him,” Red-eye said amused. As I was dragged back to the others the hood had been replaced on Whitefeather’s head but I barely noticed; Red-eyes words stung my ears. The others would most likely kill me and yet I found that I didn’t really care because of me there had been many deaths but it was Pep’s that stung the most.
Once placed inside; I found that most of the men just glared at me and kept their distance. I watched as two soldiers’ drag Pep’s lifeless body to the side and set it on fire, never noticing the silent tears that fell from their eyes. Tears came to my own eyes and I turned away; trying to block the smell of burning flesh from reaching me. A few of the villagers couldn’t handle the smell and vomited which only added the vile smell. Quietly I whispered, “I’m sorry.” But my words went unheard by everyone expect my broken heart and the smoldering pile of flesh.
Chapter 6-Hawkeye

I couldn’t believe I had let myself get caught by Red-eye; I thought I had been quick enough but the dragon proved quicker. I had been passing by when I saw the camp and so I tried to hide and now because of that stupid dragon I was being beaten. I yelled in pain and tried to protect the sensitive parts of my body by curling into a ball.
When the first group tired themselves out a second group started until about half of Red-eye’s men had gotten a turn beating. It seemed like days had gone by before Red-eye finally ordered lights out. It at that point I fainted. When was quiet and I had regained conscious I painfully climbed to my feet staggering a bit. By assessing the damage I was able to determine that I had at lest three cracked ribs but they might have been broken it was hard to tell. I slowly started in the direction that Red-eye had come from. Each step sent a wave of pain through my body and my breath came out in gasps but I pushed myself forward anything to get away and avoid anymore beatings.
After many hours, which seemed to turn into days I finally stumbled into the ruins of what was once a village. So Red-eye had been here, mindless destruction was defiantly a sign of Red-eye. I managed to make it to the middle of the village before I couldn’t walk anymore and heavy a shuddering breath I collapsed to the ground. It seemed I lay there forever before I noticed a face peering down at me. My vision was to blurred to tell who or what it was but I had to take the chance and gathering what little strength I had left I begged, “please…. Help me.”
“Hold on,” the voice answered.
“Th…thank you,” I managed to get out before finally allowing the darkness to consume me.
Chapter 7-Catra

I sat there in a stunned and frightened silence as Red-eye walked out behind Whitefeather, who had been injured since his blood seeped from the cracks in the floor. Who or what is the Divine Dragon and had someone really betrayed my people? I was deep into my thoughts that I didn’t realize the fire or smoke until I was choking on it. The flames licked the dirt and wooded floor and I watched it warily why it slowly moved towards me the way a cat would hunt a mouse. I screamed when I could move no further from it and it touched my tail. But after a while I noticed it didn’t hurt and in awe I ordered, “Get off me!”
In amazement that it listened I ordered it to stay away and thankfully it backed off. With growing courage I ordered it to spread itself over my body I laughed as it did so, tickling me in the process. Then an idea hit me and I asked, “What is the Divine Dragon?”
I didn’t really expect an answer and was certainly surprised when I got one; the fire in a crackling voice said, “The Divine Dragon is the master over all elements as is its protector.”
“Since I’m the orb’s protector does it mean I can control the Divine Dragon?” I asked. In reply the flames spat out a cream colored egg, which landed in my hands. The moment it landed it began to shake forming cracks all over it, from it a bright flooded through causing me to drop it and place a wing in front of me to block it. The light faded as quickly as it had came and lowering my wing I found a small dragon standing before me. “This it the Divine Dragon, where your magic is new and weak so is he.” The flames said before falling silent.
The fire stayed away from us as we stared at each other; taking each other in, he was an awesome sight to see. He had fiery orange-red scales, claws and teeth made of the finest ivory, blue cat-like eyes, spiked tail and dark blue veined wings. He was about the size of a large house cat. “Are you really the Divine Dragon?” I asked.
“I am, my name is Fireclaw and I have been waiting a long time for you,” he answered.
“Waiting for me?” I asked doubtfully.
“Yes, we are the ones who shall rid the world of Red-eye’s evil,” he said. With a sweep of his clawed had the fire vanished. “Let’s get out of this burnt out wreck.” I nodded and together we walked out the trap door or at least I walked out Fireclaw wrapped himself on my shoulders with his tail curled around my neck loosely.
“How long have you been waiting for me?” you asked.
“Since you were born,” he hissed.
“What about Red-eye, he wants to destroy you,” I said.
“Only because he knows the one who summons me will be his undoing,” Fireclaw answered.
Once outside I looked around and in a hushed voice said, “Such damage and all because Red-eye and that storm.” I took a deep breath and held back my tears this wasn’t the time to get emotional.
Fireclaw gripped my chin and turned it so I was facing and he said, “We will stop him and save this world from ever lasting despair.” I gave him a small smile and nodded looking all around me. As I looked I grew more horrified and angry, he’d pay for this. The huts, ground, and trees were nothing but black stumps. The smell of smoke and despair hung thick in the air but it the next sight that made me throw up. Here and there bodies of some of the male villagers, rot already beginning to make them smell. With Fireclaw’s help I buried them and I sat heavily beside the graves saying a few silent preys. My home, my world and everything I had once known was gone; destroyed by the greed and madness of one single person.
In frustration I punched the ground if it was the last thing I ever did Red-eye would pay for this, I closed my eyes and counted slowly to ten. I couldn’t afford to let myself me guided by angry it would only work against me and it never amounted to anything anywise. Placing himself in my lap she said, “There isn’t anything more we can do tonight let’s find a place to rest and see if we can find some food.”
I searched the burnt huts hoping to find food and a place to sleep but all of the food was gone or ruined and most of the roofs were caved in until we arrived to mine. I found some cream bread and a good hunk of meat that I had kept hidden form Pep and Silva. Pep and Silva always seemed to be hungry so the only way to make sure we didn’t go hungry was to hide it from them. The roof wasn’t in to badly caved so we decided to stay there and after eating we laid on my bed.
Fireclaw was curled up next to me, snoring softly while I tried to sleep but nightmares lingered behind my closed eyes. So I listened to Fireclaw’s quiet snores and thought about everything that had happened. I couldn’t believe that that a mere few hours ago I was at the beach with Pep and Silva enjoying the sun and laughing happily. “I’ll find a way to get you guys just hang in there,” I vowed quietly. Shortly after I finally fell asleep from exhaustion but whether or I dreamed that night I’d never know.
The next day I awoke with a small headache and for few seconds it felt like nothing had changed; the birds sang a sad and quiet song in the morning light. I lay there listening until I felt Fireclaw stir beside me. “Sleep well?” I asked.
“Better then I have since being I’ve been trapped in that egg,” he answered sleepily.
“I bet, How about some breakfast?” I asked.
He nodded and said, “Yes, please.” Nodding I got the fire going and cook what was left of the meat, then I split the rest of the bread. While we waited for the meat to cook; we talked quietly. “Today we start your training so you master the Spirit Orb,” Fireclaw.
“What happens when I do?” I wondered aloud.
”I’ll become full grown and we’ll wield a great power,” he stated.
“And if I can’t?” I asked fearfully.
“Then we’re all doomed,” he answered grimly. I shivered inspite of the heat the fire provided. My thoughts were all jumbled and confused; I wondered how long it would take to master it or if I even could. Fire was no problem it listened to my commands but the other elements be as easy? A soft whining broke me form my thoughts and I looked to see it was Fireclaw making the noise. When he saw the look on my face he asked, “How else was I going to get your attention?”
