Kendra Lovegood

Chapter 1: Thunder and Lighting


The birds chirped in the trees limbs. Luna gazed up towards the sky, wondering if it was about to rain. Then she turned to look at her sleeping cousin. True, it was peaceful under the shade of the gum-gum tree. That is until Luna noticed the storm clouds began to grow. “Kendra… Kendra! Wake up, it’s going to rain soon.” Slowly Kendra had begun to open her eyes. “… Luna? What’s going on?” Luna didn’t have to answer. As soon as Kendra had asked a raindrop fell on her neck. They both ran as soon as it started to rain harder. The thunder roared louder than they had ever heard before.

The two girls had retreated to their small, handmade, club house. The roof was leaking a bit and the door was on its last hinge, but it was a safe and secure place for two children to take temporary relief from the rain. “ Can you hand me my wand Luna?” “ Oh…. Sure thing Kendra.” accepting the wand from Luna’s’ hand, she made quick work of fixing the door and clogging the leaks. Soon the small house was in repair and they would be safe and dry. “ Kendra? We’ll always stick together, right? I mean, no one is going to try and separate us, right?” all Kendra could do was look at her then give her only cousin a hug. “ Don’t worry Luna. If someone did try to split us up, they’d have to drag me away kicking and screaming.” It took her a minute to remember what day it was. “ Oh, that’s right! I almost forgot.” She exclaimed while rummaging thru the pile of dress-up clothes in a trunk, then pulling out a large box. “I almost forgot to say happy birthday.” Thankful that Luna had mentioned the fact of the day, Kendra had immediately pulled out a similar box and replied… “ Thanks for reminding me cousin.” They both exchanged gifts then proceeded to open them. When Luna saw her gift, she was shocked to find a beautiful green kimono. “I can’t believe you got me this. Was this from your trip to Japan?” “ Yes~, I thought you would want an old fashion Kimono. Please don‘t tell me other wise!” “ Well my gift was sort of the same.” Upon looking at the gift she hadn’t opened yet, Kendra now had a new curiosity of what her present was. Ripping the paper off she reviled a beautiful dark blue kimono with gold accents. “I made you a kimono. I thought you would enjoy it.” “ Thank you Luna. It’s gorgeous. I’ll wear it for a life time.” “ You might have to. I think I made it to big for you.” They both started laughing at the witty comment.
