A knock at the heart ~a story i wrote~
The thunder rolled as the rain came down harder; she slid her fingers over the glass collecting time old dust. It's been some time since she last saw the sun and felt its warm rays embrace her. The precious beauty, turned away from the window back, into her lonely chamber. Her tear spent eyes looked sadly across the room; a room in shades of gray covered in the dust of yesterdays. Her long legs carried her to the old mirror in the corner of her room, she wanted to see herself; she wanted to know that yes she was still here, that she still lived. With each step a cloud of dust rose up off the floor sweeping around her long dress. As she gazed into the broken mirror she saw the shadow of a once vibrant woman. Looking back at her now was a decaying corpse. Her once flawless skin had now gone pale, and showed signs of self inflicted abuse; her once soft and shining hair now hung in tangled not’s at her back, the once deep green fields of eyes had now gone black and dull. Tears began to flow as she looked at the women before her, had the tears ever really stop flowing? The forsaken angel quickly moved out of view of that sickly figure. Stepping quickly she threw herself on to her bed, which caused clouds upon clouds of dust to rise up then only to fall back down wrapping her in a sheet of dust. Grabbing her pillow she dug her nails into it, screaming as loud as she could into the softness of her bed. As the moments passed her screaming subsided and she hid her face in the depths of the pillow, as she began to regain her breath; her young body shaking slightly. When she finally caught her breath she rolled over, keeping her eyes closed. Her mind wandered to her departed love's name and face, to memories that meant more to her then all the treasures of the world. Then she reluctantly recalled the lies and the tears, the pain that came with each fight and the hate in her heart, silent tears slid down her burned red cheeks. Suddenly a knock came at her door, and she blinked. The knock came again, the pale flower turned her face away from the door. The knocking comes from those foolish souls seeking to join her in her chamber. They would knock for a while then go away, once they realized she had no intent on opening the passage to them, they were all the same and she's been hurt to badly to take another blow. She pulled herself out of bed, pushing her tangled hair away from her beautifully tear burned eyes. She took two steps away from her bed and stood before her dresser. Ignoring the spider webs and the dust she picked up an old photo of her once, one and only. Seeing his smiling face brought her untold joys and also the deepest of sorrows. Her small delicate hand wiped away all the dust from his face and she held the picture to her chest as she moved back towards the large windows, which gave off the only light in the room. The dying beauty looked into her lost love's eyes and felt a false kind of peace in her heart. A knock came at the door, and she jumped causing her precious picture to fall to the floor. Tears filled her eyes as she fell to her knees, looking down at the shattered image of lost love, her hands shakily trying to pick up the pieces. A two knocks came this time and the tearing angel, wiped her head up to glare at the door. Damn that fool, she thought as she leaned back, letting herself rest against the firmness of the wall, letting out a sigh. Another knock came. Frustrated she kicked the photo away from her, sending pieces of shattered glass across the floor. To her shock a rather loud thud came from the door, the stranger was demanding entrance to her chamber. Her eyes narrowed as she looked at the passage, but shock her head and pulled her knees up to her chin watching the door with a child's curiosity. The banging came so loud this time the women began to fear he'd break though the door; tears of terror filled her eyes as she hid her lovely face in her lap scared of what could happen. Then after a moment a gentle almost silent tap came at her door. The maiden raised her head tilting it to the side, confused at what this stranger was getting at. Never before had anyone been so intent on joining her, that she wondered maybe... after a another gentle tap, the lady pulled herself up off the floor and cautiously began making her way towards her chamber door. As if the stranger knew what was going on the other side of the door, he began to knock softly, in tune, carefully drawing her in closer. After what felt like an eternally she now stood before the door, with her heart racing but she couldn't tell what emotion it was that ran though her, perhaps all of them. The knocking stopped but she knew he was waiting for her. Her lips quivered as she reached out and rested her hand on the knob. She then thought about what it was she was doing and began to pull away, when she heard the gentlest of knocks which just sounded so reassuring. So taking one last deep breath she turned the knob and opened the door. Light blinded her and she took a step back, she could make out the figure of a tall, strong man before her. After a moment the light subsided and she looked straight on the stranger who had called upon with such determination. He was truly something to behold, any women's deepest desire. He began to advance towards her and all confidence she had had vanished she backed away but never breaking eye contact with her intruder. Once she had reached the middle of her room and her mind was racing about what she had done, but in one quick motion the stranger stepped forward took her in his arms, spun her around and pressed his firm lips to her much softer ones. Her world began to spin spurs of colors at first in shades of blacks and grays then to crimsons and gold’s. When he finally released her from his passionate kiss the beautiful maiden looked up into his large kind eyes, and felt again the love and peace she had long forgotten. She turned her head looking around the room, still wrapped in his arms. Was this really the room she had been in, she thought, The Walls were a gorgeous shade of red, with beautiful gold frames that held up paintings of romance. The sheets on her bed were crimson and gold, matching the stunning curtains that failed to shield the sunlight from spilling in. She looked to the direction of her mirror. Her lips parted, the women in the mirror had long brown hair shining in the sunlight, her dress was just amazing to say the least and her eyes had returned to that emerald green that she once loved. She turned her head back to look again at the stranger, who had changed her world, but she found that this man was no stranger but a friend who she must have known all her life. The sweet angel slid her arms up his chest and wrapped them, around his neck, pulling herself up for a sweet kiss from her new love.
