Story: Living only 4 miles away from the big city of Saigon, Sai Kyoko always dreamed of being a star and living a glamorous life. Her mother had died 2 months after her birth from disease and exhaustion. The only people left to help raise Sai were her father and grandmother. Sai would dream of who her mom was and what she was like. Time and time again, Sai would ask her grandmother about the mother she never knew. The stories of her mom would always ease the pain of not having a mother, until Sais 6th birthday when her grandmother was murdered in an attack on the village in which she lived. Times were hard and when Sai was 8, her father had developed a gambling problem, forcing her to give up on dreaming and start cleaning houses for money to pay off his debts. By 12, her father had a debt with the wrong people. He was left to make a decision on dieing a horrible and painful death because he was unable to pay up, or selling his daughter to the Dream Land club in Saigon. The next 8 years of Sais life was forever an act of self-preservation, doing what ever she was able to do, to get money. She was selling drinks at the bar, cleaning houses, cooking food for others, pick pocketing some people, and ,of course, the selling of her body to the occasional Marine. In these times Sai had a new dream, a dream to be free… a dream to forever leave Saigon… a dream to fall in love with someone who saw her as a woman and not as a prize to claim… a dream to live in the free land of America… a dream to live to see the sun rise once more.
