Sadus. A rogue god on the loose, sworn enemy of Zeus, and the unluckiest man in the universe. It all started in a large Roman villa, in the heart of Rome. Sadus, heir to his family's fortune and power, was pampered and spoiled beyond measure. This didn't ruin his kind heart and mind, though. It was often that he wondered why his family was so wealthy, when there were so many poor prople out there. His father scolded this behavior. "Sadus! Dare you bring our family's downfall with your ridiculous ideas. Do you think I am a Senator for nothing? We need money to survive, and to keep our good lifestyle." And he wouldn't hear anymore about it. Sadus looked into a pond one day, thinking about his life. Suddenly a voice spoke from inside his head. "You are right, young one. Your father does not see the kind intentions of your wise ideas. You, Sadus, will end up powerful, with wealth beyond measure, yet it will be at a terrible price." The voice left. Sadus pondered the words for a long time. "Am I to die for the sake of power?" He wondered aloud often. Finally, he decided to run away. Eight long years on his own, surviving in the harshest environments, granted Sadus the gods' favor. They made him one of them, and even made him a throne in their palace on Mount Olympus. Sadus was the god of wind, and the elements. One day, while traveling in a meadow, he came upon a basket with a brightly colored egg inside. "Alas! I shall keep it, and when it hatches, it will be my friend." Sadus nurtured the egg for a month. It finally hatched, into a little fox. "I shall name you Tama, my fox," Sadus cried in delight when he saw it. Sadus loved Tama more than anything else, and Tama thought that Sadus was his savior from the egg. Tama protected Sadus, and Sadus protected Tama. Sadus wore a crown of wind, and a shield of sunshine and light. Zeus even gave him thunder bolts, second to Zeus' own lightning. One day the evil Cronos devised a plan, to turn Zeus into one of his own minions. Cronos concocted a potion of darkness, disguised it, and left it at the foot of Olympus. Sadus, with Tama, picked it up. "Hmm...'Try this, lords, and tell me if you enjoy it; it is the finest wine I have ever made. -Sonos'. What do you think, Tama? Should I present it to Lord Zeus?" <Yes, Master Sadus. If it is such a fine wine, I think the great Lord Zeus would enjoy it.> Sadus brought it up to Mount Olympus and showed the bottle to Zeus. He smelled it. "Ah, it smells divine! Since you brought this here, Sadus, I think it is only fair for you to have first taste." Zeus poured some of the potion and handed it to Sadus. "Thank you, my lord," Sadus replied gratefully. He cautiously took a sip. Immediately he felt the effects of the potion. He writhed on the ground, screaming in pain. Finally, it was over. He gazed at the polished marble floor in horror. He was a vampire, a creature of the night. Zeus was stunned. "Sadus! What happened?" <Master Sadus! Are you alright?> Tama's words meant more to him than Zeus'. "You tryed to poison me, didn't you! I knew I couldn't trust you! I knew it!" Zeus' voice squealed in rage and astonishment. "No more than I can you," Sadus replied shakily. His voice had turned to a hiss. "You're the all-knowing Lord of the Universe. You should've known this was poison! And you knowingly fed this to me...I'm leaving! Zeus, you have an enemy! Know this, and beware! There is always someone more powerful than you!" Sadus left, with Tama. <You showed him, didn't you, Master Sadus?> Tama said. "Yes, Tama." <Wow...Master Sadus, you're amazing! I didn't know Zeus was going to poison you! And you lived!> Tama was excited. Suddenly Zeus appeared in his path. "YOU, ROGUE GOD SADUS! STOP! I SHALL KILL YOU ONCE AND FOR ALL. THEN THIS WORLD SHALL BE RID OF A TRAITOR AND MURDERER. I SHALL DESTROY YOUR SOUL AND SEND HALF TO THE FIELDS OF PUNISHMENT AND HALF TO TARTARUS!" "You wish!" Sadus snarled. He thrust a thunder bolt into Zeus' stomach. "I withdraw the immortal soul, and break it in two
Then when you are gone and dead, I'll be done with you!"
Sadus screamed. Zeus yelled at the top of his lungs, then fell, his body dead. Sadus then drank the blood of the dead king, and writhed in pain once more, as power filled his body. He destroyed Zeus' soul, and then threw half to Tartarus and half to the Fields of Punishment. Then, he assumed Zeus' throne on Mount Olympus. The other gods questioned him about Zeus, and Sadus told them he had defeated him. Drinking another potion, one of light and purity, he was revived to human status, the horrors of vampirism behind him, ready to start a new life without the harshness of King Zeus.
