Things Only Dogs Could Know
This little dog must think I'm queer To be sitting, all alone, right here. Her master gives me a warm smile. I return it, but all the while On my heart, I hide the welt Of all the pain that I have felt. Looking down, I then meet The dog standing at my feet. This puppy, she knows me not But she tells me that she knows my heart. I look into her deep brown eyes And suddenly I start to cry. She laps a tear drop from my face, But all the pain is not erased. She does not speak, but I hear her say "You're going to be okay."
