Her mother never told her about her father, even though she said that they looked somewhat alike. Even thought she had her mothers hair. She died when she was eight, and Kaycee was raised by her grandpa. When she was 15, she met a man named William Conner. He was the most handsome man she had ever seen, with pale skin and being unearthly beautiful. The only thing about him that she thought strange was his eyes, being a bright shade of red. Kaycee worked across the way from a hospital at a pharmacy, where he went to get a 'special order' that she wasn't allowed to touch unless to give it to him. Other then that, he ignored her. Kaycee like him because he was polite and the fact that, even before they met, he knew her name. It went on like that for a year, then it took a turn for the worse. One night while she was at the pharmacy, a group of people in dark clothing robbed the place, screeching for something they couldn't find. When they saw her, they smiled and closed in on her. They were vampires. They took her outside and beat her up, wanting to first see her blood. They were about to bite her when two people appeared and fought with them. They were out numbered, but got them to the point where they ran away. Kaycee was knocked out by then.
She didn't know how close to death she was, but it was enough to convince Charsile to change her. She felt the burning go through her body and, about 4 days later, she woke up to see Charsile and, to her surprise, William looking down at her. They told her that she was now a vampire, and Charsile was her father. William also said that he had a crush on her since they first met and that he found her 'irresistable' as human. The only problem was, he drank human blood and refused to drink animal blood. They promised to meet up with each other a few times a century or so and Kaycee went with her father.
She met the Vulturi, and they liked her a lot, she even became close friends with the twins, some only liked her because she had powers. She could turn invisible and listen to people thoughts when she was. Aro found that out and asked her to join, she didn't go for it. A few years or so later they moved to the USA.
During the Spanish influenza, she helped Charsile as a nurse at the hospital. She met Edward there. He was sick and his mom was too. Kaycee did everything she could to help them, just like Charsile, she grew attached. Her tolerance for blood was high, so it didn't matter to her. Her and Edward, even though he was very ill, became friends, very close friends. When Edward changed, they became best friends and the rest is history.
