The day you left
You promised me you'd never leave me.
I believed in you & loved you deeply.
Then I told you when you call I'd be here.
You smiled & said you'd always be near.
You grabbed my hands & looked into my eyes.
I felt your skin & within your hands my heart lies.
I kissed your cheek as we walked down the street.
You looked up at me & said when we die in heaven we'll meet.
I said to you, you won't die I will protect you.
But a drunk driver was rushing toward us, if only I knew.
In a split second she was gone from my side.
I knew what had happened but the reality I tried to hide.
