The heat warmed Azriel's sun-tanned skin. She stood at the fringes of the water, which lapped gently agianst her feet. The breeze tugged playfully at her hair.
And she waited. For what, she had no idea, not a glimmer of what had her here for the third straight day. Maybe not so much a what, as a who, she thought suddenly, then shook her head, her crimson hair covering her soft features once agian.
Blood dripped from her broken body as she lay at the feet of her father, the king. She had no strength left to raise the dagger in her hand, only enough to shout a warning to her love, across the room. "Get out!" She screamed at him, even as he advanced on her father, who turned, grinning.
"So you're the one my daughter has betrayed us all for." He snarled.
