Just Random Thoughts
is this the same?
No where in the Bible is homosexuality condemned. Unless it it is related to rape, idolatry, or prostitution.

Here are the verses used against homosexuality and what they really are talking about:

Genesis 19:4-29
In Sodom and Gomorrah gay rape was common. The people there would rape a fallen enemy, traveler, whoever, to asset power or revenge. Clearly that is about rape and not orientation though.

Leviticus 18, 21

When people "deny" the OT they are talking about the laws only.
Scripture is clear that the levitical laws and holiness code are for the people of Israel not Christians.

1. “Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them...” Lev 1:2
2. “Speak unto the children of Israel, saying...” Lev 4:2
3. “Speak unto the children of Israel, saying...” Lev 11:2
4. “Speak unto the children of Israel, saying...” Lev 12:2
5. “Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them...” Lev 15:2
6. “Speak unto Aaron, and unto his sons, and unto all the children of Israel, and say unto them...” Lev 17:2
7. “Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them...” Lev 18:2
8. “Speak unto all the congregation of the children of Israel, and say unto them...” Lev 19:2
9. “Again, thou shalt say to the children of Israel...” Lev 20:2
10. “Speak unto the priests the sons of Aaron...” Lev 21:1
11. “Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them...” Lev 23:2
12. “Command the children of Israel...” Lev 24:2
13. “Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them...” Lev 25:2
14. “Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them...” Lev 27:2.

Deuteronomy 5:3
It was not with our fathers that the LORD made this covenant, but with us, with all of us who are alive here today.

"Today" was 1450 BC, when Moses was given the law for the nation of Israel. The Holiness code was not for everyone just those specific people. Christianity does not appear in the Bible until Acts 11:26. That is 1,500 years after this was given. No where in the NT does it say that Christians are bound to these laws. It does say that when Jesus died the laws no longer matter. They were under the law. Since Jesus died we are under grace.

Hebrews 9: 14-17

4How much more, then, will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself unblemished to God, cleanse our consciences from acts that lead to death,[a] so that we may serve the living God!

15For this reason Christ is the mediator of a new covenant, that those who are called may receive the promised eternal inheritance—now that he has died as a ransom to set them free from the sins committed under the first covenant.

14How much more, then, will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself unblemished to God, cleanse our consciences from acts that lead to death,[a] so that we may serve the living God!

15For this reason Christ is the mediator of a new covenant, that those who are called may receive the promised eternal inheritance—now that he has died as a ransom to set them free from the sins committed under the first covenant.

16In the case of a will, it is necessary to prove the death of the one who made it, 17because a will is in force only when somebody has died; it never takes effect while the one who made it is living.

Luke 16:16
The law and the prophets were until John [the Baptist]: since that time the kingdom of heaven is preached.
Romans 6:14
Ye are not under the law, but under grace.
Romans 7:4, 6
Ye also are become dead to the law by the body of Christ .... We are delivered from the law, that being dead.
Romans 10:4
Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth.
2 Corinthians 3:14
But their minds were blinded: for until this day remaineth the same veil untaken away in the reading of the old testament; which veil is done away in Christ.
Galatians 3:13
Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law.
Galatians 3:24-25
Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith. But after that faith is come, we are no longer under a schoolmaster.
Galatians 5:18
But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law.
Ephesians 2:15
Having abolished in his flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments contained in ordinances.
Colossians 2:14
Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances ... nailing it to his cross.

Footnotes:

1. Hebrews 9:14 Or from useless rituals
2. Hebrews 9:16 Same Greek word as covenant; also in verse 17

Romans 1:18-32

Most the commentary I have read on this passage uses the KJV so thats what I am going to use.
Romans 1:26-27:
"For this reason God gave them over to degrading passions: for their women exchanged the natural use for that which is against nature. And in the same way also the men abandoned the natural use of the woman and burned in their desire toward one another, men with men committing indecent acts and receiving in their own persons the due penalty for their error."

Since they are only having sex to worship the gods and commit idolatry this is just part of Paul's rant on idolatry. This is evident by verse 25. "For they exchanged the truth of God for a lie and worshiped and served the creature and not the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen." In my NASB there is a page before each chapter. It says "When Paul wrote this letter, he was probably in Corinth on his third missionary journey. His work in the eastern Mediterranean was almost finished...." One of the biggest religions in Cornith was the Aphrodite fertility cult. When this was written people would have been known this. In this verse the word eros is translated to passion not Eros. Eros means romantic love and is the same word used to describe Jesus death in Acts 1:3. Lower case e eros is not talking about that type of passion it refers to the effect of wine and drugs on the mind. You also have to take the statement against nature in context of the time. Back then it referred to including gentiles and Jews in God's family. The Greek word for committing indecent acts is askemosunen. Indecency back then refers to any hidden aspect of a person. Thats why Paul called them such. They were claiming to be Christians but then he saw them going back to paganism. He was basically saying they were lying and committing idolatry.
Obviously this verse is not referring to sexual orientation, but idolatry.

1 Timothy 1:10 and 1 Corinthians 6:9-10

Here people who will don’t enter heaven are listed. How you interpret these passages depends on what translation you are using. KJV uses effeminate” and “abusers of themselves with mankind. In the newer translations the words have been combined and rendered to mean homosexual. This is done falsely because they are not the Greek words for homosexual. This just shows the scholars bias. In NIV the difference is made again. They are translated as “male prostitute” and “homosexual.” The Jerusalem Bible uses “catamites” A Catamite is a young person that is kept around for sex. These people are paid a lot of money as well.
