T’was a chilly October day. Orange and red leaves littered the dry, yellow grass all around. There was a small breeze. Trees and bushes rustled, making more leaves scatter.

Pit brushed a few strands of stray hair from his eyes. “Hey Ike,” he said, taking a bite out of his lunch, “what are you going to be for Halloween?”

Ike had finished his third sandwich and was crumbling the wrapper. “Halloween, eh?” He leaned back on a tree trunk in a thinking pose.

“Yeah!! Halloween! What are you going to be? Let’s get something matching!!” Pit chimed, jumping up from the dirt.

“What? Like those kids who dress as princesses and princes?” Ike put an elbow on his knee, propping his head up. “So, what are you going to be? Princess Pit of…?”

“No!! You got it wrong!! I’m going to be Pit, the angel from Skyworld!!” The boy explained almost proudly. “The angel who saves Palutena from Medusa!!”

Ike raised a brow and attempted a surprised expression. “Why an angel? You don’t exactly fit as an ‘innocent’ child.”

Pit eyed the blue haired man suspiciously. “W-what’s that supposed to mean?”

“Just joking around, that’s all.” Ike chuckled, getting up and dusting off his pants. “Let’s go.”

“You never told me what you were going to be!!” Pit called from behind, chasing after Ike as the other man ran back to class.

“I’ll think about it.” Was the reply Pit received.

--

The night was cold and dark. The only light around was from the moon and the windows of homes, which were decorated with many Halloween decorations.

Pit shivered as he tugged the white scarf around his neck closer to his face. Where was he?

“Ike, you promised to come…” Mumbled an obviously unhappy angel.

“And I came.” Ike answered from behind the brunette, causing him to jump. “And I see you have been practicing in the art of flight.”

“O-oh shut up Ike!!” Pit sneezed. “You just scared me half to death!!”

Ike shrugged. “Who knew you were scared so easily.” He answered nonchalantly.

Pit tugged at the white toga he was wearing. “Shall we get going?” He took a look at Ike’s choice of costume. “And may I ask what you are wearing?” He raised a brow, wondering what excuse Ike came up with.

“…I’m a mercenary.” The blue haired man pointed to a large strange looking sword. “And say hello to Ragnell, my sword.”

“Nice excuse. You sure you didn’t just pull on some random clothes?” Pit crossed his arms, looking at the cape, tunic, and headband.

“It’s not everyday someone finds a tunic in their closet, now, is it? Especially one like mine.”

“You look like Marth.” Pit pointed to the other blue haired male across the street. “He said something about a prince.”

“I heard Link’s dressing in a green tunic.” Ike looked at Pit’s clothes. “Seems like you didn’t get the memo that it’s going to be cold tonight, kid.”

Pit sneezed yet again. “I’ll be fine. I’m strong.” He started walking to the closet house to them. “Let’s get going before everyone takes the candy.”

Ike sighed. “I don’t see how you talked me into trick-or-treating. Doesn’t this seem…childish?” Adjusting his headband and taking Ragnell along, he followed the boy-turned-angel to the front door of someone who obviously skipped Halloween. There were Christmas decorations on that man’s lawn for god’s sake!!

“Ready to get some candy, Ike?”

“I doubt this man knows its Halloween. He’d probably hit you with a broom or something.”

Pit crossed his arms. “So he likes Christmas decorations. That doesn’t mean he doesn’t know what today is! He just likes to…decorate early, that’s all.”

Ike stood as far away as possible on the front porch. “Okay, you go say trick-or-treat and tell me if he has a broom then.”

“What kind of mercenary are you? You’re not brave at all!!” Pit exclaimed, waving his arms wildly. The two bracelets on his arms dangled dangerously up and down his left arm.

“I though angels were peaceful. Apparently, I thought wrong.” Sighing, Ike knocked on the door slowly.

The door opened a crack. “Who’s there?” A gruff sounding man asked. “You here ‘fer candy?”

“Yup!” Pit answered cheerfully. Ike could have laughed out loud if it weren’t for the fact it’d be out of character, even for him. Pit looked like a ten year old!

“Well I don’t gots none.” The man slammed the door in their faces.

Ike shrugged. “Well, at least he didn’t hit us with a broom.” He said, now walking down the front steps of the man’s lawn.

The brunette had a hunched back and seemed to be extremely disappointed. “Well, maybe we should go next door…”

“Come on, Pit. It’s not that bad. There’re plenty of houses.” Ike practically dragged the angel by the scarf to the next house. “Don’t be so down because of one house.”

“Remind me to trick that house later on…” Muttered the smaller boy.

Ike chuckled. “You don’t have to. Look.” He pointed to Toon Link, who was dressed in something close to Link’s own costume, throwing almost anything he could get his hands on at the house Ike and Pit had just left.

“Oh Toony…” Pit sighed. “He’ll be in so much trouble with Link later…”

“Oh goddesses!! Toony!!” The two turned to see Zelda, in an elegant dress, rush to the smaller blond. “Don’t do something like that!!”

Ike stuffed his hands in his pockets. “Looks like he already got in trouble with Zelda.”

“Hey Nana, let’s go to that house!!” Pit noticed two little kids (who looked like they were in elementary school) in pink and blue. “That house has a lot of candy!!” The blue kid said, and the two were off.

Pit grinned. “I think we should follow those guys, Ike! C’mon!”

Ike remained pessimistic. “Fine, fine…” He groaned, following after the hyper angel. Why did that boy seem so happy when it came to candy? He couldn’t say he hated it, but it seemed weird for him to run at the sound of candy.

“Ike, look!” The angel practically shoved his bag at the mercenary. “Candy!”

“Oh, thanks.” Ike grabbed a chocolate bar.

“E-eh?! That’s my chocolate! Hey! Don’t eat it!!” Pit cried, reaching for the candy bar, which was too far for him to grab. “Hey!! It’s not fair! You’re taller than me!”

“You’re an angel. Fly for it.” Ike replied monotonously, unwrapping the candy and taking a big bite out of it.

Pit pointed a bow like object at Ike. “Don’t make me shoot you with my bow!!”

Ike raised a brow. “I have Ragnell to protect me.”

The brunette looked at Ragnell, then at Ike. “Fine, fine. I’ll fight with you then.”

“I fight for my friends, then.” With that said, Ike gave Pit a pat on the head (not to mention messing up his hair) and walked off to another house.

“Hey!! You messed up my hair again!!” Pit pulled off his laurels and brushed his hair again.

“Come on angel boy, let’s go. It’s getting chilly and I’m certainly not going to help you fight your cold.”

Pit made his way after the taller boy. “Don’t worry Ike! The angel fights for his mercenary!!” He exclaimed, making other bystanders stare at him.

“His mercenary?” Ike questioned. “Don’t you mean: the mercenary fights for his angel?”

“Nah. The angel fights for his mercenary.”

“No, it’s the mercenary fights for his angel, while his angel watches the mercenary’s back.” Ike corrected.

“Why is the angel his?” Pit’s eyebrows knitted together in annoyance.

“Well, I’m certainly not yours.” Ike answered coolly.

Eyeing the blue haired man suspiciously, the angel asked: “Are you saying that I am yours?”

“Perhaps.”

“Oh, Ike!!” Pit punched the guy in the arm and sneezed loudly.

“And we should get you home. Wearing clothes like that on a night like this. What were you thinking?”

“Many things.”

“…I won’t bother asking then.” Ike gave Pit a smile, a very, very tiny smile that is. It was barely noticeable, but the angel saw it.

Maybe this was the reason why the angel loved his mercenary. He’ll never know. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I am so, so, sorry for this. XDDD I have no idea what I wrote. When the idea came at first, I thought it was dumb.

...Yet here we are...awkward...

Well apparently, I was supposed to be doing my homework (writing a story), but I ended up with this. I don't think my teacher will be happy accepting this. XD

So...yeah. I give up. I can't think of anything better for an ending, but Pit's probably going to get a cold. :3

Uh...excuse me while I tell my friend to kill me for writing this. XD
