I'm so excited about going home. It'll be a blast seeing my family and friends again. Hell, I don't even mind the fifteen mile walk home from the Planar Travel Hub. After the warp from Gaia to Kithnal, I got a bottle of cola from a vending machine and shotgunned it. Carrying my glaive as a walking stick, I walked down the highway to my hometown of Chaniss.

I judged from the position of the sun that it was around 17:30 when I reached the outskirts of the city. As I walked up the street, the I saw something that wasn't right; the wooden sign that said "Welcome to Chaniss" was lying busted on the ground. "That's no good. I should tell someone about that." I said to no one in particular. It was also weird that I couldn't hear any birds, when they were usually only quiet at night. "Maybe there was an early migration this year." I shrugged and walked on.

After a few minutes, a headwind brought a faint smell of smoke and sulfur to my sensitive nose. Looking up, I saw some sort of unnatural darkness on the horizon. "Oh no... That can't be good!" I dropped my backpack, took some throwing knives and my glaive, and sprinted home. I got to Main Street, and what I encountered filled me with fear; I saw ripped and torn corpses, horrible car crashes, and the vile stench of blood and death engulfed me. I fell to my knees and cried.

A familiar voice shouting and the unfamiliar screech of some creature snapped me to attention. I dashed past the carnage and around the corner and saw my friend Doriyan hacking away at what looked like a swarm of demons and zombies. He didn't need my help, but I flipped down my goggles and with my glaive crackling with electricity, I leaped into the fray.
