the sound of rain
The sound of rain, pounding heavily on my rooftop, the thunder heaving and the lightening breaking the ever graying sky. It feels like my mood today, serene, boring even, in that mellow, sleepy eyed kind of way. I held a pencil in my hand last night and wrote a verse about my life, about the ever mindnumbing exsistance that I sometimes feel is me. I wake up everyday after only three hours sleep, to the endless buzzing of a ever annoying alarm clock, the bright glow of the digital numbers are never a comfort when they flash 6:00 in the morning at my nearly open eyes. I feel cold, so I grab a sweater and wrap it about me, not only to keep out the cold, but to keep me in. I make myself a cup of coffee, with just a drop of milk, light enough so it doesn't burn my lips. Today I went as far as to make pancakes, but the second batch burned and I felt like I was going to scream, from not the simple fact that I really only wanted to sit at the table with a cup of coffee and zone out on that spot on the wall, I find ever comforting. What is it with rain, it brings with it, cold wind and sleepy days, where all I want to do is sit on the couch under warm blankets watching old movies from the thirties and drinking tea? I don't know, but sometimes I love the rain, the cool wet fingers of the goddess trickling down my face and hair. The crash of thunder, the bright flash of lightening can be envigorating if you are looking for it to do that to you. So at the moment, the rain is comforting, even soothing, but it's all together tiring, in these early morning hours when I wish to climb back under the covers and sleep.
