Meet the Guardian of my unisi and others...Ayla

A brief introduction of myself

I am Ayla Talitha Hillard, a sixteen-year-old girl with a passion for writing. I just go by Ayla, though some of my friends think it amusing to call me Tal, and my family refers to me as "Cloud."

I really think I am only half in high school, since I already work for a children's magazine and do only what is necessary to graduate. My dreams lie elsewhere...

Some of my favorite things are animals, god friends, pencils, notebooks, silver, white, blue, green, red, pink, violet, fresh-baked bread, the sky, wind, freedom, writing, and every medium of art.

I'm afraid of cages, chains, dark, windowless spaces, being cute off from the sky. I hate math and physics, which leave no room for dreams and emotion.

I believe there is some good in everyone.
I believe in unicorns.
I believe in the impossible.

This is me

I have always been a dreamer. Even before I understood what a dream was, my friends and family dubbed me "Cloud" because I couldn't just stay bound to the earth.

The sky is my element. I love the feel of the wind in my face, sweeping away all the worries and cares of the world. I guess that's why I loved horses right from the start, because I just knew they share my love for freedom and hope.

My best friends are the creatures around me, a few special humans and elves, and my pencil.

I have an unexplainable love for living creatures...particularly furry ones. They offer quiet company, comfort, and friendship, and somehow they always seem to understand my troubles.

Whether it's normal or not, i have a rather great difficulty forming deep, trusting relationships with other people. Some say I just don't try, others that I need to trust peoples' good intents more. I prefer to say that I am shy, and I hope I'm right, because I would hate to be a snob.

And my pencil...well, it ties things together. My journal is where I sort out the mess of life and organize it so I don't dissolve into confused pieces. My pencil helps me keep my life together, and it also helps to link my world to the world of my imaginations and dreams.

Which is more real than I ever could have dared to hope.

Where dreams take wing

I believed in unicorns right from the start. I knew that somewhere out there, the creatures of myth existed. But I never could have imagined just hoe much more is in this world.

It all started months ago, shortly after I found a job writing short stories for a children's magazine. In the same office building where the publishers headquartered, I found a small place rented by a young woman named Unisus. From the moment I entered the office, curious, I felt as though I'd stepped through a portal to another world, only I hadn't.

Unisus headed a group of believers, who watched and studied the elusive mythical equines--unicorns, pegasi, and the crossbreed (or ancestor, as some say) unisi. Not only did they dream and hope in the magical creatures, but the dream was a reality.

Within a month of finding the group, I was regularly in and out of the office, nearly living there. Unisus helped me spot my first unisus foal, Kanoa, and my life became filled with hope. I have seen what few believe in, what supposedly didn't exist.

Since then, I have become a Seeker of the hidden magic in this world. From simply unusual animals to the fantastical, scientifically unexplainable species, there is so much more to be found.

I haven't had to travel far. Even within the nearby towns and cities, there are dozens of groups who devote themselves to the uncovering of mythical mysteries. All within our own world.

I think my adventure is only beginning.
