Washed Out Friendship
A quick start to a looks like forever
good advice and sometimes there
A friendship of convenience
A broken heart
A hand reached out
But it was too late to open the door
First cuss delivered
I hurt and you sneer
nothing was meant and everything is no more.
But this is just a washed-out friendship
started as deep as the ocean
and as clear as the tropical sea
But there was a flood of too many tears spent
mixed signals and more memory then regret
I stood in a capsizing boat of unresolved feelings
for the first and only love of my life.
You pulled up in your raft
and told me you'd listen
but never did throw me a line.
As the water filled and my desperation grew
The beacon of all that went wrong,
went right.
I should of stayed on dry land
never searched for a guiding hand
bringing me into the still waters' plight.
seeing more as the dawn awoke
you, my friend, sore at my saviour; through out a pebble to make a splash.
I ignored, and began to forget. But you who could not have me as no longer broken,
through out a rock
that disrupted the silence
and forced the water to attack me.
I responded with a silent plea
You couldn't accept
and had to show me that you were wrongfully angry
Out over the water a boulder was pushed
the sound in the silence was
deafening
It shook me, disrupted my heart, but my feet still grounded
I up't my silent plea.
The fog is where you are now
I'm no longer on my sinking boat
and forever a float
there is no mistake in having met you
God intends for lives to cross-paths
For in you I found a friend with ears
now my life is in sweet silence
and to carry this friendship on would be
queer.
