Shakespearean Squirrel's Journal of Luff
A place to store all things awesome and good. The older entries are bits of whiny lameness that I haven't the heart to delete, so read them with a grain of salt.
Danish Lessons with teh Fuz
Just a small part of the awesomeness that happens at the quest thread of teh Denmarkian Raccoon-Boy. Come check it out, all!

S: ...How hard do you suppose it is to get Danish citizenship? ...Out of curiosity.

F: Haha! mad d

Looking it up... You have to give up your old citizenship, have a permanent place to live in Denmark, you have to sign some paper about loyalty to Denmark, your crime record should be clean or you should only have minor details about criminal affairs, you have to have paid off all your debt, you need to be able to take care of yourself financially, you need to have a middlegood knowledge to speaking/writing danish and you need to document that you know about danish history, culture and norms in form of society.

Just to sum it up quickly. xp

Yes, we are VERY nationalistic. mad d

S: ...Crap.

Fuz.

Start teaching me Danish. mad d

F: Hahaha! :'D
I would LOVE to! Tell me where you want to start. xp

S: Subjects, I suppose. I, you, he/she/it, we, they.... And greetings, too.

F: I = Jeg
He = Han
She = Hun
It = Den

How are you = Hvordan går det? (How's it walking) xD
Hvordan = How
Går = Going/walking
Det = That

What's up = Hvad så?
Hvad = What
Så = So

Danish puts too much into morphologic and syntax. T-T;

S: Lawl. Is that little 'a' just 'ah'? And then...'we'? As in, "We like cake."

F: å?
...
It's actually more like a moan, but with less airtime. mad d
Like, when you say opening, just cut it at the o. 3nodding
Well, no... it's hard to explain. stare

S: Hmmm. I think I might know what you mean. I'll work on that.

How exactly does one go about pronouncing the "hv" combination? Just the "v" sound, maybe?

F: Yea, just v.
And for ie. hvad just don't pronounce it vat, you make that d kind of flow out.
I can't even think of an example from english. D:

S: Oh. Does the 'd' sound like a 't', then--at least a little? And is it a long or short 'a' sound in "hvad"?

Oh, and...is there a keyboard shortcut for the funny moaning 'a'?

F: No... d doesn't sound like t... at all.
And yes, there is a shortcut... if you have a danish keyboard x'D

S: I found it! -->å<-- ^.^ No Danish keyboard needed!

About that 'a' sound: it's 'a' as in 'cat'?

And I've just got to know how to say squirrel. whee

F: Squirrel: Like in cat... exactly! ^^
Squirrel = Egern! But you pronounce it "e-ern" and the first e isn't like i but like in Earl.
As if you stutter while saying ern! which isn't pronounced as earn. It's like the e in level

S: Whoooo. I passed out trying to speaketh in Danish. Those accursed "moaning" 'a's! scream

F: Sqwuiwell... try searching on Wikipedia for IPA, they should have some soundtracks on pronouncing.

S: Fuuuuuuuz: Ah, Wiki: De vrije encyclopedie. ^.^ 'Tis a good idear, luff. I shall!
