The city of Khalanta was a mid eigteenth century European dynasty. It flourished well, remaining secluded and isolated from the rest of eastern society. Most people had heard of Khalanta, but had never seen it. Nor did anyone care to venture into the deep forests on a voyage that would, in the end, prove fruitless, just like the rest. Khalanta was a peaceful place, containing two major villages and a river that separated them. The two villages were similar, yet different. The village called Nenyo was very overpopulated. It was the trading village, a village where people sold goods and bought them, and where most considered it a more convenient place to live. The village of Docude was the village across the river. It was less populated, and it was all based on agricaultural things and rural countryside. People who liked the calm and quiet usually resided in Docude. Both villages were peaceful, and neither had any qualms about the other. That is until the 'Reformers' showed up. Hundreds of men, all large and gruff, stormed through Khalanta, tearing apart Docude first. The Reformers took the village of Nenyo next. When all the land was conquered (for no one had the power to fight back), the Reformers went on and took King Gilam's knights without hesitation. No match for the large men, the peaceful knights were defeated. A week from the day the Reformers arrived, every part of Khalanta was burning, rotting, a gray stinking heap of carrion and ruins. No one ventured into the streets and their great King had been found slain in the central fountain in Nenyo. Reformers patrolled the streets, throwing citizens into jail for no reason but to torture them, burning down houses and crops, and killing livestock for their own personal meals. Khalanta was no more than a smoking point on a map, overlooked by any voyager.

The adults of Khalanta knew that it was smart not to fight the much more powerful Reformers. The younger generations on the other hand took the matter into their own hands. Everyone under the age of 18 became rebels. Once the age of 18 was passed, the person would have to move on in the community and help the adults take care of what was left of their city. Now the rebels are taking Khalanta back, one village at a time.
