Chapter 37 Healing and Pain
Aero concentrated on focusing her light. Her healing ability was buried deep within her light and she hadn’t quite figured out how to control it at will. It felt as if it only appeared when needed, or maybe it was just a fluke.

“Don’t give up.” Lucidia stood next to her also concentrating her light. “If we figure out how to do this we can heal so many more people. If we can do this,” her voice strained, “we won’t have to watch anyone die ever again.”

Death was always a hard topic for Lucidia. Her family had died when she was young and the healing woman who took her in had died years before Aero had met her. She had faced it so many times but never found a way to reverse it. Once they were gone no amount of healing could save them.

Aero closed her eyes taking a deep breath. She tried to remember how it had worked before, how the energy had flowed through her entire being and escaped by her fingertips. She let the light flow.

“Aero!” Lucidia exclaimed. “The light!”

White beads of light danced around her fingertips. “No, not quite.” She tried again thinking back about how she had felt.

I want to do this to help others. I want to heal!

The green light emitted from her hands made the small room glow. The horses woke up in the corner gazing at the strange light.

“Tomber!” Lucidia called to the horse. “Your leg was hurting right, wasn’t it? Come, this light will heal it.”

Tomber limped over letting the blanket fall off his back. Aero held her hands around his injured leg. Tomber felt a tingling flow up his leg as the lights danced through and around the sore area. When she stepped back he lifted it and stepped on the floor gently. Not feeling pain he put more weight on it.

“It’s healed,” he told them in awe.

Aero glowed with joy as Lucidia hugged her. “You’re a miracle worker! How did you do it?”

“I just really wanted to be able to help others. I just . . . wished for it I guess,” she explained as best she could, “just try to picture it, the greenish light, and want to heal.”

Lucidia tried, breathing deeply as she let the light flow within her escaping by her fingertips. The beads spun violently as she forced them to appear.

“Relax.” Aero instructed, “Let it flow smoothly.”

The light calmed flowing slowly around her fingertips.

“Now,” Aero whispered, “feel your want to heal.”

She concentrated on the thought of healing, willing it though the light. The light glowed green expanding from the beads by her fingertips to glow around her hands. The light flooded the room stirring the air with her desire to heal.

“Lucidia,” Aero breathed, “it’s so bright.”

She opened her eyes looking around. “I did it.” She was in awe. “I can do it.” Her eyes widened. “Thank you, thank you so much.” She swayed falling into Aero.

“Lucidia, Lucidia!” Aero called as she lay her on the ground unconscious. “Thank goodness, now you don’t have to worry anymore.”

That night Aero slept easily in her old bed. It had been so long since she’d fallen asleep to the sound of another’s breathing. It was such a comfortable and familiar sound, though different from Tornado’s, made her easily drift into pleasant dreams.

“Aero, are you hurt?” a familiar voice called fearfully. The woman wore an elegant white dress with pale pink accents. It was her favorite.

“Uh huh. I fell.” Aero answered. “My leg is bleeding and it got on my dress, too.” Her cheeks were stained from crying.

“Don’t worry my little Luna.” The woman picked Aero up and set her on her knee. “Mommy will fix it for you.” She held her hand over Aero’s knee. A pale green light poured over the wound curing it as the light danced through giving the area a tingling feeling.

“Ah!” Aero exclaimed gleefully. “You made it all better!”

“Light can do extraordinary things, Aero. Never forget that. You can heal all of those you care about. There is so much even I don’t know about my light. Trust in it, Aero Luna, let the light of the moon be your guide.”

“The moon?”

“Yes. You get your light from the moon.”

Aero let a sparkle of light float in her hand. “But the moon is not out now.”

Her mother laughed like a ringing bell. “No, my dear, it is not. The moon get’s it’s light from the sun. AS long as there is that light you can use your light. Most people don’t need that light. They take it from within themselves and their surroundings. We however need that pure light.”

“So, if the moon is missing at night I can’t use my light?” She asked worried. “I’ll be stuck in the dark?”

“No. The moon and the sun always shine on the earth even if you can’t see them.” She told Aero patting her head. “The same goes with people. Even if they are far they are still there thinking of you, always.”

“Momma?” She asked curiously. “What’s wrong? Why are you crying?”

“Aero. You are going to go with your Nanny to a town far from here. It’s a beautiful place with lots of flowers and birds. I’m sure you’ll love it there.”

“Are Momma and Dada coming?”

“No, sweetheart, we have to stay here and protect the realm,” she explained hugging her, “I wish we could always be together but . . . it’s hard sometimes, being a ruler. You want to be everywhere, helping everyone, and lead a happy, peaceful life. That’s not always how it is though.”

“But you are a good ruler. Everyone is happy here.”

“Yes.” She said softly, “but now it’s time to go. Come, let’s get you packed for your trip.”

Aero rode in a royal carriage with her Nanny. It was a long flight but Aero watched out of the window as the land passed beneath her. It was lonely even with Nanny. Aero had never been away from her parents for long. That night was very dark, different, and lonely.

“Momma.” She spoke aloud in her sleep. “Momma, Dada.”

Lucidia woke to her calls and sat up looking towards Aero’s bed.

“Momma.”

Aero had never called for her family before. She never thought of the Light Realm with anything but disgust and anger. She had never cried with tears filled with sadness as she did now in her sleep.

“Aero.” Lucidia called in a soft voice.

“Momma!” she cried.

“Cassia.” She whispered.

Aero’s tears stopped and her eyes blinked open. She sat up sniffling from her crying. She dried her face burying it in her blanket.

“What’s wrong?” Lucidia asked, “Was it a dream?”

Aero shook her head. “It wasn’t just any old dream. It was a memory. A really old one.”

“About your family?”

Aero nodded. “I remembered them, my parents. They sent me far away from our home for some reason. I wonder what . . . happened to them.”
