The CatBoy Ponders Life
This journal is a little different from most other journals. In it I am going to make a question each day and answer it. This is where you the reader comes in, I want you to answer the question and also suggest a question from time to time.
Christmas
So I'm back and decided to post another question for you the reader to respond to if you want. I want to know what do you like about Christmas or if you don't celebrate Chirstmas, what do you do during what is for most of the Western world the winter holiday season? I want to know what kinds of foods do you eat? What kind of traditions do you family observe? What sort of things do you decorate with? Do you go see relatives or stay home and watch tv? What kind of gifts do you ask for, expensive ones or inexpensive gifts? Do you do things for others at this time of year? Just read through what I've listed and if you want to add some things, please feel free.

Here in my house we celebrate more then just Christmas. We sort of celebrate the season also. We love Winter Solstice and always make a special meal and think about our ancestors and what their lives must have been and how things have changed so much through the centuries. We of course decorate the house and get a tree and decorate it to the tip top and hope the cats don't take it out when they are climbing in and out of it, attacking each other and whoever is unlucky enought to walk by at the moment they spring from their well hidden spots to attach themselves to your ankle or what ever body part they manage to catch hold of. Lots of fun with the cats.

We have a large family so sometimes it's much more prudent to start shopping for everyone the day after Christmas when all the prices go down and throughout the year so that when December gets here we aren't running around with our heads cut off and we don't put ourselves into really deep debt after Christmas. Of course we do have our share of spending too much during the season too. I usually ask for inexpensive gifts unless there is an item I really want and that is usually shoes or jeans. I'm pretty hard on my shoes and pants so I need some new ones pretty much year round. I ask for movies, CD's, computer games and cologne. I try not to put a burden on my friends and relatives as they have a lot of people to buy for anyway. If I can make their lives easier, I do. I try to buy my parents nice things for Christmas. I feel like they made me and raised me and spent a ton of money and time doing it, the least I can do is give them a nice gift and an I love you so much card. It usually works really well too. I suggest you try this method if you are maybe aware of what a freaking pain in the a** you've been to your mum or dad or both and maybe try to use some Christmas magic to fix up the relationship. Believe me they usually are just trying to look out for your best intrest even if you can't see it at the moment.

Now for the food. We usually have a turkey and dressing, with gravy and cranberry sauce. We also have a HoneyBaked Ham or two. We have rolls, salads, peas, carrots, corn, sweet potato casseroles, and tons of desserts. I love to eat at Christmas and New Years. I also stuffed this last Thanksgiving until I thought I was going to pop. The food just seems to make the holiday even better. Sometimes we have Wassal. Look it up, it's neat. Of course there is eggnog, not a fan, and other wonderful drinks to have. It's a great time for Hot Chocolate, flavored coffee's and hot tea. I really enjoy all the special candies that come out this time of year too. I just love how creative people become and you can taste the love when you eat.

Just remember this year to give your pets some love. Buy them some nice food or treats. It's Christmas you should share with them too. I am going to try to get these huge bones for my dogs and some kitty treats for the cats. I've got blankets for the dogs that they got early due to the snow we had last night. I plan on making them a special dinner for Christmas and get them some toys. Now would also be a great time to donate food to the local animal shelter. In fact now would be a good time to donate to those who are less fortunate then you. The Red Cross has had a busy couple of years and they could use some help, you can give blood and save someone's life, and don't forget the troops overseas. Rather you agree with the war or not, don't take it out on the men and women overseas doing their duty. They are doing something that most people could never do and it's hard to be away from you family and friends at the holiday time. You could send them letter and cards thanking them for being willing to put their lives on the line so others can lead better, free lives.

Well if I think of more things to write I will, but please just take a moment to read this and write down answers to some of the things I asked. Thanks so much, the CatBoy
