First, I have no idea what'll be here eventually, so quit asking yourself. This is where I'll post stuff I'm writing, ask stupid questions, and vent how much the world sucks. Whatever ends up here will DEFINATELY be interesting. I promise!!!!!
Blue Eyes, Grey Skies - Chapter 2
Here's Chapter 2 of Blue Eyes, Grey Skies. Incase you didn't read Chapter 1 ... go read it! scream ... gosh! stare

This is a story I've been writing with mine and Vla_Girl_7's roleplay characters. And ... she doesn't actually know that I've pulled this out of storage and started working on it again ... so ... SURPRISE!!! sweatdrop

All Comments and Critiques are welcome. I'm doing these Chapter by Chapter, but once it's done and edited and everything, I'll post it all as one story. It'll only be 3 or 4 Chapters when I'm done, so it'll be over soon.

Until later,
~Ariel dMar (Shumei)~

Chapter 2:

Now Rina found herself sitting in another seat, looking out another window. Sitting in the passenger’s seat of Shumei’s Smart and looking out the small car’s small window, to be precise. They were driving along the dusky streets of Kyoto towards a small club on the outskirts of the city. Rina still wasn’t happy, but she was sulking a little bit less. A tiny little bit less. Shumei was chattering on about how much fun they would have that night, and how much Rina would love it once they got where they were going. I doubt it. Rina thought, as she muttered something similar under her breath. Shumei, of course, completely ignored her, knowing that is was pointless to try and have an actual conversation with her. Rina sighed. I can’t believe I let myself get sucked into this.

Although Shumei had not be successful in her attempts to get Rina into a dress, not that any of hers would have fit Rina anyway, Shumei finally succeeded in getting Rina into a pair of bejeweled jeans and a loose, sparkly, black tank top that was supposed to be tight. Shumei was several sizes larger than Rina, but Rina didn’t mind. I hate all of her clothes. Rina thought, as her ensemble glittered in the light of the street lamps flashing past. I can’t believe she actually got me into this. At least it’s not pink. She looked over at her sister, who was dressed to the hilt. Shumei was wearing a pale blue and purple cocktail dress with lots of layers of sheer fabric and long silver gloves that were buckled just above her elbows to keep them up. Her hair was pulled up onto her head and secured with a silver flower pin. Rina was still upset about being forced to go to this stupid party, but at least she was glad that Shumei would enjoy herself.

“Well, here we are.” Shumei exclaimed, as she slowed down and parked in front of a low squat building. Rina looked at it. It didn’t look like much. Rina said so. “Oh, that’s alright. It’s much better on the inside,” Shumei said, completely unfazed by Rina’s rude observation. “Come on, I want you to meet everyone.” Rina sighed, opened the door and shuffled out. They walked up the stairs and into the building. As soon as the doors were open, the music assailed Rina’s ears. She winced. It was so quiet outside. It was still drizzling a tiny bit and everything was wet and silent. The sun had just set and the stars were beginning to show themselves. It was a perfect night, and Rina knew that she was going to spend it all in a dark, loud building full of people she didn’t want to be around. She sighed resignedly knowing that if she didn’t come in and stay, that Shumei would worry about her. Guess I don’t have a choice. Rina summoned all of her inner strength, tried to block out the noise, and strode into the building in her ane’s wake.

As her ears and eyes adjusted, Rina realized it could’ve been much worse. The place was lit semi-decently (better than most clubs), the music wasn’t too loud (even if it was techno), and nobody appeared to be drunk, even though everyone has enjoying themselves. Some people were just sitting around talking, so at least she wouldn’t stand out by not dancing. She followed behind her Ane, who ran around hugging people, slapping high-fives and generally making herself the center of the room. Her sister was good at that, walking into any situation and being completely comfortable and in control. Shumei turned back and saw Rina standing awkwardly just inside the door. “And this is Rina!” Shumei announced with a laugh, flitting over to her friend and dragging her into the throng by the elbow. “Hey there, Rina!” everyone greeted her, all smiles. Rina, even more uncomfortable than before, and now crushed by the mass, gave a pained smile and tried to slip away.

One of the girls, which Rina vaguely recognized, ran over to her. “Hiya Rina! So how’re things with your boyfriend?” The girl smiled broadly, oblivious to the sudden shift in Rina’s appearance. Shumei saw Rina’s back stiffen and her wrists flick into a familiar pose. She dashed through the crowd, grabbed Rina’s hand, and pulled her to a dark patch by the wall. She glared forcefully into Rina’s fuming blue eyes. “Rina! Stop, now. She isn’t worth it.” Rina’s fury slowly began to dissipate as her eyes began their shift from solid blue to a flat grey. “If she talks to me again -” Rina said, slowly and calmly. “No.” Shumei interrupted her. “Leave her alone. I’ll tell her to stay away, but you need to stay calm. We came her to enjoy ourselves, so relax.” Rina’s calm disappeared, “You came her to enjoy yourself. I hate places like this.” Rina’s voice cracked slightly, and she looked aside, “She asked me about Kiba.” Shumei gave a tiny little gasp, realizing what had sparked her sudden outburst. “Oh, Rina … I’m sorry. I didn’t know -” Rina cut her off with a shake of her head, “No, I’m sorry, I should have controlled myself better.”

Rina looked back up at Shumei’s face, her own the blank, stony mask which had made an appearance at the apartment. Rina twisted her wrists and the kunai which she had released were drawn back in. She smiled up at Shumei. “I think I’ll just sit down here for a while. Go have fun, I’ll be fine.” Shumei looked concerned, but knew Rina valued her independence and would not appreciate her concern. With once more glance over her shoulder, Shumei left to join her mass of dancing, singing, laughing friends.

Rina slid into the booth with a sigh. The corner was dark, and she could observe everyone in the room without being seen herself. She was concealed, Shumei was keeping her friends away, and she was slowly acclimating to the throbbing, hypnotic beat of the music. As Rina began to slip into a half-sleep, she glanced around at the other people who didn’t feel like dancing. There were a few people in suits, music producers or something like, Rina assumed; a group of friends taking a break from dancing, laughing and sipping at their drinks; and a few people like her, sitting alone, almost asleep, listening to the room’s heartbeat melding with their own.

Her heart suddenly leapt erratically, jarring Rina out of her half-dazed state. She saw another table with two people sitting at it. A man and a woman. A couple. Kissing. They were so happy. Rina’s tears, which had been held in check for almost 3 days, began to spill over and run down her cheeks in heavy streams. She was suddenly thankful for the dark room full of distractions. No one would notice her weakness. And she was weak. Too weak to control her emotions. Too weak to refuse Shumei like she knew she should’ve. Too weak to control her mind and keep her thoughts from wandering … wandering … wander …
