Adashino's Journal
Updates only when I have enough thoughts to fill an entry.
I finished reading a manga series by the name of Variante , and I might as well right a half-assed review here to try and get people to notice it (both the series and me).

It's a horror/suspense like series revolving around a girl (Aiko) whose family is killed, and she ends up with her left arm being infected/replaced by a chimera-infused arm that can morph into a large, blobish weapon. That's just what the first 2-3 pages are, I'd explain the plot more, but I'd rather let whoever is reading this a chance to read it themselves. A lot of the spoilers involves the explantions of some things (such as what the chimeras are, and how Aiko's arm was changed)

It's pretty good; but the main problem that I had with it was that, because it's a short series, the dramatic/heartwrenching parts are a bit rushed to, and as a result aren't as tearful as intended. Regardless, I really enjoyed this, and Sudo Hiromi is now one of my favorite characters.

Sadly, very few people will likely find this. CMX has released the whole series; but it's rated under mature (most likely for the gruesome dead bodies, and the occasional "s**t" yelled out by Sudo) and cannot be found on the storeshelf at borders or whatever. I had to get the whole series through Borders Website, and even though it's unlikely an underage kid (as in below 16) would be able to get their hands on this, CMX still decided to both plastic wrap the volumes, and add warning stickers to make sure you know that this isn't a kiddiebook.

Enough rambling; Variante is decent, and if you need something to make you cry a little, or you want to see people get killed by nightmarish human-blob creatures, read this.
