Ch. 4 The first turn

Maria got home and shut herself up in her bedroom, looking ready to hurl.
“Ergh, that Katherine, she makes me sick.” She complained to seemingly no one.
“I know she does, Maria, but if we are to stop the past from repeating, she can’t know you remember the past as it actually was.”
“Rosemary!” Maria mind-shouted.
“You don’t need to yell, our telepathic connection is strong enough.”
Maria apologized, “Sorry, you surprised me… The curtains are shut and the door is locked, you can show yourself if you want to.” At this statement, the air in front of her began to shimmer, and within the space of thirty seconds a girl with a warm complexion, rich brown hair that fell in perfect ringlets, and eyes so green you would swear they were really emerald on the inside stood looking at her with a sympathetic smile.
Maria took a second to recover. Even though Rosemary always appeared in the same simple white dress, her beauty was still rather shocking. “That girl,” she seethed, fully recovered, “ is so disgustingly convinced that all ghosts are evil! I almost wish she knew I could hear what she was thinking, just so I could set her straight!”
“Come now,” Rosemary chided gently, “You know she means well, even if she is wrong. She’s our only way to get information on the plans of Caroline, besides.”
“I know,” Maria admitted reluctantly, thinking privately on how nice it would be to punch Katie’s mother, Caroline, in the face. “Well, I have to re-do my hair dye. If my roots show I won’t be able to play the dumb blonde act so well, will I?”
There was the feeling of amusement where laughter would once have been as Rosemary disappeared and left the room. Maria, now alone, went unhappily to a bottle of platinum blonde hair dye and a timer, wishing her incorporeal friend could speak. The mind link seemed to always give her a headache.
