........
It was a cold night the sky was dark and dreary and the heavy clouds laid low to the ground creating an impenetrable layer of fog. Alex cursed low under her breath she was headed to a party when her car broke down she was only a mile away and the car broke down it annoyed her to all ends. Her dark black hair straightened flat and dyed with bright pink was frizzing. Her feet hurt from her high heels and her skirt was too short to be walking on the streets like she was. Her bright blue eyes darted from dark alley way to dark alley way. It was a busy night so she didn’t worry too much about the cars driving by. She sighed heavily and walked a little faster as a car started to drive next to her the car stopped with a small but obvious screech. A door clicked open and soon there were soft footsteps. They were low and when the heel it the ground there was that obvious squeak of a leather sole on the sidewalk. Alex sped up a little and so did the steps which were now right behind her within seconds an arm was a round her and a cloth over her mouth then the world spun slightly and her whole body went limp.
But this story isn’t about Alex. I know what you’re thinking yeah I’m mean but hell I had to tell you something exciting. Instead this story is about me Joanna smith. I’m a gangly 16 year old who, most say, need a serious tan and maybe to bleach my hair a little. This is my story which revolves around the person who well got to Alex. No this is not about black mail but it still will make a thrilling event I hope. Well let’s get started shall?

“What the hell do you mean by move?!” I scream while sitting up in my bed phone to my ear this was so not happening. My best friend was moving away and I was stuck in California miles away from where she would be moving! “Calm down Joanna it’s not like we can’t call another” she spoke quickly and it was extremely hard to understand “I know that but I just moved here this summer….and haven’t even started school!” She giggled at the sound of my nervous yelling something she was used to “Don’t laugh it’s not funny! I won’t know anyone there! Jasmine please don’t leave so soon! Wait for another week we start school Monday! And who made the decision!” I was yelling and ranting obviously about to breech my freak out wall. It was bad enough I had to move and now my best friend the only one I had since I moved this June I just didn’t understand. “Oh calm down it’s a small town everyone will be nice enough. Trust me I have a lot of friends here.” I groaned at her optimistic voice. It always annoyed me but now it was worse. “What are you yelling about!” the loud boom of my older sister throwing open my door caught me off guard which also made me fall off my bed “Jasmine is moving!” I yelled ran to the door and slammed it in her annoying face. It made me giggle when I heard her annoyed groan as she charged away from my door. I picked up the phone I had dropped –or thrown can’t remember- and smiled brightly “Joanna was that you sister?” “Yes sadly” we both laughed but soon after she had to leave to help her family pack.
I sat down on the couch in my living room with my books and my sadly kept History homework. If someone ever tells you high school isn’t too tough you can tell them they’re wrong it’s a pain. I mean I hadn’t started school yet but my mom decided that it would be good if I did school work all summer. Which trust me was not a good idea if you parent ever gets that Idea feel free to get angry. I got angry with my parents and they just laughed and made me do my work. Sure I sound like a complaining five year old but it was my only summer to be sixteen! With and exasperated sigh I worked some more on my work and eventually put it away. It was actually cloudy today which I was great full for but I was also great full for living in North Carolina but no we had to move to the sun and heat. I stood up stretched and headed for the oversized door my mother just had to have. I was greeted by the cool breeze and the soft whooshing of fall air. The Scent of the trees was intoxicating. The brownish leaves sent a thrill through me this was truly my favorite time of year. Were I lived it was small and sometime if we’re lucky would snow. The mountains were truly a great thing except when it was hot. I walked down the narrow path to the back of my house it was cold and I was starting to think I shouldn’t have worn a skirt. But it was mu favorite skirt at least I had a long sleeve black shirt on. The crunching of the leave made a soft rhythm and soon I came out from being the houses and walked into a small book store. Even if I had only been here for the summer the elderly man who ran the bookstore new me very well. He waved softly and I smiled in return as I head back to my favorite part of the store.
I smiled as I reached for the next book in my favorite series but stopped when I saw someone out of the corner of my eye. I’d seen him before many times but he looked different somehow he looked, how can I out this, younger almost it was weird. It wasn’t much younger though he had only looked around maybe 20 he looked maybe, if you can say it has a look, 18 or 17 I could be wrong it could just be the light but it still made me blush when he realized someone had been looking at him and he turned around. I nearly dropped my books though when he taped me on the shoulder though. It was unexpected and maybe just a little unwanted but he still did, I turned around –before looking over my shoulder- and griped the book I had as tightly as I could without hurting myself –or tarring the book in half, if that was possible, - he looked Fairly uncomfterbl and kept shifting from foot to foot I smiled at him “yes?” he shifted again “I wanted to know…. If you knew what the first book to this series was” he held up the fifth book to the series hi eye’s showed that he truly was lost I giggled lightly and walked over to the shelf where he had gotten it. I turned to him “Are you sure you’ll be interested in this book? It’s kind of…well dark and gruesome” I turned back to the shelf about half way thru my sentence and felt his stare on my back “yep just doing a little bit of…well research.” I heard him chuckle and I decided not to turn around to ask what he thought was funny. I quickly found the book but pretended to search thinking that maybe I could put off having him walk away. I thought right and he didn’t even move although I couldn’t hear his breathing. It made me wonder why he was so quite that I grabbed the book and turned around fast he didn’t even flinch. I handed him the book with a smile “I really hope you enjoy it I know I did” He raised an eyebrow to that almost like he couldn’t believe I read the book “you read a story that’s supposed to be dark and depressing?” I blushed slightly “uh uh yeah” He grinned and turned away and smiled at me over his shoulder “thanks for the help” Something was off about this but I didn’t know what so instead I went and sat down to read my book as the time flew by.
I hadn’t realized how late it was until my mom called. She wasn’t mad just wanted to know where I was. I had mostly finished the book and while she ranted on about something I didn’t know of, I finished off the book and told her I’d be home soon. I stepped out into the brusque cold air and instantly regretted not having my mom come and pick me up. It was dark and it was cold, I like the cold but I hate the dark when I’m alone. I started freaking out about half way to my house seeing as I decided to take the path by the woods which was not the best Idea ever. I could have turned and walked on the street. I could have gotten away from the forest but instead I went inside after hearing that scream. Why do people do crazy things? When it can only get them hurt? It was only until I ran into that forest and came across that damned field that I realized it. Because we just want to see the carnage and have something to complain about.
I found myself face to face with what I considered a monster with the face of an angle the worst part was that I knew him. I had helped him out earlier today, at the book store, wanted to know if I knew about a vampire book. Here he was standing in front of me holding a girl with her throat ripped open. I didn’t know what to do I froze I was scared and I couldn’t even feel my legs –and not because of the cold. I saw the beast turn towered me and take a step in that instant I unfroze and ran as fast as I could. But I tripped up and he appeared out of nowhere wrapped an arm around me and put a hand over my mouth “say a word and your dead” His hands were cold and his grip was so tight I already felt the bruise. I shook my head he unleashed me my mouth last and I ran again this time I didn’t fall but I did scream as I took off. Again I heard his foot falls move fast behind me and my breathing sped up.
