I'm a HUGE fan of post-hardcore and that kind of stuff, and recently I've been facing a problem...
I CAN'T FIND ANY BANDS TO LISTEN TO.
Using Pandora.com might seem like a good solution, but after listening to it for hours and having terrible so-called "music matches" played for me, I've pretty much lost faith in it.
Trying to find bands that play concerts with the bands I like hasn't helped either. Though it's helped in the past, all I'm getting now are cliche emo bands that sound exactly the same as any other song I've heard.
BUT NOW I HAVE BEEN SAVED.

I discovered Cutting Pink With Knives, a British grindcore/synthcore/thrashcore/noisecore/popcore/SOMEOBSCUREGENRE band while listening to Pandora about a year ago.
They only had one CD linked to them on Pandora, so doing some web-scouring, I was able to find more music by them and was immediately hooked.
Sadly, all good things come to an end, and this amazing band split up about a month after I downloaded their final CD, Populuxxe.
BUT BUT BUT BUT...
While they were around, they also took time to create remixes.
By listening to these remixes and tracking down their original artists, I have actually discovered the solution to my ever-growing problem.

I WILL LOOK FOR EUROPEAN MUSIC.

It's sad to say, but American bands have started to feed off of each other's success, borrowing sounds and aesthetics from those who have begun to top the charts and abandoning their originality. CPWK was nothing like those bands. Rather than to embrace what is "popular," they evolved their sound naturally from grindcore to popcore, gaining a more 80's sound without compromising their originality. Their music was still entirely their own and so incredibly "out there" that it was impossible to grasp each song's complexity with just one listen.
Of course, CPWK never made it big. They continued to be a small and generally unknown band with a highly dedicated fanbase, and now that they've "passed on" so to speak, they're still being hailed as one of the most under-appreciated bands of recent times.

From skimming the songs from the original artists of the CPWK remixes, I have realized that there are so many bands that are just like them... not sound-wise, but in general. They are untouched by the corruption that wide-scale success can bring, and have a sound that is clearly their own. Some have a unique way of singing, multiple layers of instrumental sound, and play in a key rarely seen by most current-day bands. THAT is exactly what I look for in a band, and I think I've actually found more bands to listen to.

So yeah... From now on I think I'm going global for my new music. I've had enough of the same.
