With the enemy weakened by our combined efforts, I dashed forward and swung my sword at full strength. Even though he just got hit by a barrage of demon kill-alls, he deflected my attack like it was nothing. I stood back for a moment, and it said something in a gutteral language I didn't know. It swung its spear in an arc, tearing open a hole that a huge swarm of hellspawn poured out of. "Aw, son of a whore!" Claive exclaimed. "Doriyan, protect Gryphen!" he ordered. I ran over to the top of the hill she was at and cut a demon in half. "Look out!" I told her. She whipped around and fired two arrows simultaneously at my head, which drifted apart and just grazed my ears. I heard two grunts behind me, and as I turned around, I saw two demons fall to their knees, each with an arrow planted between its eyes. "What was that!?" I shouted. "I call it 'Splitting the Tree.' Impressive, no?" she replied.

We teamed up, and I was taking out ground units while she shot down aerial units. She also had a bizarre habit of calling out whenever she nailed one. "Three feathers! Four... five feathers! Six! Six feathers!" I guess that's what she calls bulls-eyes. I dunno. Not to be outdone, I was mentally keeping track of my kills, too.

Maybe a minute or so later, we cleared out our assailants, so I dropped my sword and caught my breath. "So... Your count?" she asked me. "27 fatalities. You?"
"24 feathers. Phew, that was scary, but it was also really exhilarating. Is it bad to feel that way?"
"Nah, it's just the adrenaline. Way to go, girl." We high-fived, and I picked up my sword and made my way back to Claive.
