Chapter 43 The Meeting
The courtyard of the palace smelled of daffodils fresh after a morning rain. The sun shone down brightly drying the landscape as it rose high above. Aero lay back in the grass with a sigh.

“What’s wrong?” Flora sat next to her soaking in the fresh air.

“I have so many questions, but I don’t know who to ask them to.”

“Like what?”

“Well, this whole healing with light thing. My mother, the queen, knew about it but Lucidia, who is a healer, had no idea such a power existed.”

“Maybe only people in the light realm knew of it,” Flora offered, “we could ask some of the elder healers if they know of the power. There’s one here in the capitol.”

“That sounds good,” Aero agreed sitting up, “Either way I should teach people about this power.” She stood determined. “I’ll go see them now. Thanks Flora!”

“Good luck!” Flora called back as she watched Aero run out of the courtyard.

“Flora.” Rook walked up to the archway. “The advisors have gathered.”

“Alright.” She stood smoothing out the skirt of her dress. “Let’s go.”

Aero ran through the town searching for the healer. She looked at all of the signs as she ran down the main street but none of them matched her need. When she reached the fountain she sat to catch her breath. A green sign caught her eye down a small lane. She weaved through the crowds of people and hurried down the lane. The sign was old and worn but she could see the word ‘healer’ etched in despite the flaking paint.

“Excuse me, is anybody there?” Aero called as she knocked on the heavy wooden door.

“Yes, yes, come in. The door’s unlocked.” An elderly woman’s voice called.
Dried herbs hung from the ceiling and pots of fresh herbs covered the tables by the windows. Like Lucidia’s, there were jars upon jars along the shelves amidst books for diagnosing.

The elderly healer approached her as she marveled. “My dear, you’re a light ethereal.”

“Oh, yes. My name is Aero. I grew up with princess Flora.”

“Oh, I see. What brings you here?”

“Well, I have a question. I was raised by a healer in a village here in the Faery Realm and I recently made a discovery, or rather, I remembered something from my early childhood,” Aero explained, “The healer that raised me didn’t know of this power and I wanted to know if any other Faery healers knew of it.”

“What is it?” the woman asked eagerly, “Please, show me.”

“Um, do you know of anyone with an injury?”

“I heal anyone with an injury.” The woman laughed.

“One that hasn’t fully healed?” Aero persisted.

She thought for a moment. “Lyshia, could you come here for a moment?”

“Yes, coming Madame Wisfer.” A cat limped out of the backroom. Her front leg was bandaged and held in straight by two small planks of wood. “What is it you need?”

“This young lady believes she can heal you,” Madame Wisfer answered and Lyshia gave Aero a concerned glance.

Aero kneeled down before the cat holding out her hands. “May I?”

“Madame Wisfer has done all in her knowledge to heal it and she is many years wiser than you, little one,” Lyshia told her.

“It will only take a minute.” Aero smiled.

Lyshia gave her a wary look, but walked over to her hands. Aero wrapped her hands around the wounded leg careful not to touch. She felt the light flowing once more. Each time it got easier to summon and control the light. She heard their gasps as she released the light into the wound.

So, even this elder healer doesn’t know of it. Maybe there really was only knowledge of it in the Light Realm.

Lyshia stepped back as Aero pulled away her hands. She put her weight on the wounded leg. Her ears perked up and she bit the bandage pulling it off. After slipping her leg out she pranced around testing it out.

“It’s healed,” Madame Wisfer whispered in awe. “Healing without herbs, stitches, nothing but light.”

“Will you spread this knowledge for me?” Aero stood grabbing Madame Wisfer’s hands. “It is the wish of me and my guardian, Lucidia, that as many people as possible can be saved. We don’t want to see any more deaths because people cannot be healed.”

“Yes, of coarse! That is the wish of every healer. I will tell every healer I know.”

Flora and Rook sat before the advisor. Rook’s presence seemed to trouble them so he didn’t look at them. He kept his eyes closed only listening.

“Have you thought more about the wedding ceremony?” The head advisor asked Flora.

“Yes, Rook and I have thought about it,” Flora answered smiling.

“Oh, good. What have you decided?”

“We would like to postpone it for a while,” she told them.

“Postpone?” The advisor stood. “How long? I can understand wanting to wait for the roses to bloom.”

“Yes, doesn’t a summer wedding sound wonderful?” one commented.

“A summer wedding? How lovely!” Another chimed in.

Rook’s eyes snapped open. “Your princess wants to postpone it.” They were silenced. “Don’t make her suffer by forcing her.”

“Thank you, Rook,” Flora whispered.

“I-if that is your wish.” The head advisor tried to defend their choice. “We just wish for peace that a queen will bring.”

“True peace will not come that easily.” Flora gazed down at the advisors before her. “There are many changes that must happen before we reach peace. I will not force them on my people too hastily. They will need time to adjust, so please, be patient.”

Rook smiled. “Is there anything else that needs to be discussed?”

“N-no that is all. We will dismiss ourselves for the day.” The advisors stood and left.

Flora laughed after they all had gone. “That was much easier with you here. Thank you.”

“Anything for you, my princess.” He kissed her hand before leaving the room. Flora sat stunned for a moment watching him leave. When the door closed she smiled waiting for his footsteps to fade. When it was silent she ran out in the opposite direction. She hurried to the main exit catching up to the advisors.

“Wait, please wait,” she called to them.

“Milady, is something wrong?”

She stepped closely to them. “There’s something I’d like you to help me with.”
