I lived in a box

with walls made of steel.

I was trapped by my rules,

and fear was the seal.

Sometimes I was lonely,

and I didn’t know why.

I wasn’t alone,

but something was awry.

What I really needed

was someone to trust,

to let into my box,

and to brush off the dust.

You came into my life

one year ago.

You burst through the walls

and helped me to grow.

Sometimes I’m still lonely,

and all people grow tired,

but with you by my side,

I am always inspired.
