I was born in Chicago, Illinois on June 20th, 1901. I had green eyes like my mother. In 1918, when I was 17 years old, I contracted the Spanish influenza. My father had already died and it was my mother's last wish that Carlisle do everything he could to save me. Despite Carlisle's aversion the wish, he turned me into a vampire in wishes of a companion. I moved around with Carlisle and since that time, I have passed as Carlisle's adopted son or as the younger brother of his wife, Esme.

Once Esme joined the family, I went into a bout of rebellion and split paths with Carlisle. I used my gift of mind-reading to single out evil people and drink their blood. A couple years later, I decided that it was no longer working out and I returned to Esme and Carlisle and they welcomed me back with open arms.

Then, in around 1936, my family and I moved to Forks, where we encountered the Quileutes. A treaty was then arranged stating that the Quileute wolves would not reveal our secret so long as we didn't bite any humans and that we stay off of the Quileute land. We lived in Forks for a few years before moving on to other places. In 2003, we moved back to Forks where I was once again pretending to be Carlisle and Esme's adopted son.

Two years later, when Bella moved to Forks, I became intrigued, as I could not read her thoughts and her blood 'sang' to me. When Bella was nearly attacked by human muggers in Port Angeles, I came to her rescue and we were together from that point on. I took Bella to see my family play baseball and three other vampires, James, Victoria, and Laurent chanced upon us setting in motion the attacks that put Bella in danger. James was a tracker and followed Bella all the way to Phoenix. James bit Bella and I was forced to drink her blood to stop the venom from spreading through her system.

After that, I went back to Forks with Bella and stayed with her until her 18th birthday, where after an accident, I decided that it would be best to leave Bella for her own safety. After spending months failing at tracking the other two vampires, Laurent and Victoria, from the baseball game, I heard that Bella jumped off a cliff and died, so I went to Italy to provoke the Volturi, an ancient and powerful vampire family. Bella and my 'sister' Alice went to save me from exposing the vampire secret, which would’ve lead me to my goal which was for the Volturi to kill me. They were provided with two choices that I was greatly displeased with- kill Bella or turn her into a vampire.

The return to Forks meant that they were supposed to return to a normal routine, but Bella wanted to be changed by me so I agreed to change Bella as long as she would marry me, but a coven of freshly-made vampires were set loose upon Seattle and Bella's life was once again in danger. She and I went up the mountains to camp out and wait for the fight to end. The real fight was actually where they were camped, as Victoria- James's mate- came to avenge me. Once I had destroyed Victoria, Bella and me went back to my family, where the Volturi met up with them again. Carlisle and I assured them that Bella would be changed soon.

Once the day's shock wore off, Bella agreed to marry me and to do it properly. Bella said she'd rather not have Jacob at the wedding, but I sent him an invitation anyway.
