A Touch of History
This will mostly contain history stuff.
Political Round Up
*I am watching Blagojevich expose his sociopathy with amused fascination. The self justification is so far into the surreal it counts as performance art.

*Watching the return of rule of law, I feel weirdly light. I've been tense about the rising fascism since the original Patriot Act. It's strange seeing campaign promises I approved of actually fulfilled. I can't remember that happening before and I've been watching politics closely since the ford/carter debates. I had grown so used to watching the news with horror to see what my government would do next, that I'm not sure how to react to having a president I'm not actively ashamed of. I keep thinking of the old joke, "Why are you banging your head on the wall." "Because it feels so good when I stop."

*I am still worried about this stimulus package. What we need is infrastructure spending which will both fix endemic problems throughout the country and create jobs. Why then are we writing a stimulus package that is vastly less efficient at stimulating the economy because it focuses on tax cuts instead of infrastructure spending? Why are the Republicans still dictating economic policy when we know how disastrously bad at it they are? Hey Democrats! It's called a backbone! Get one!

*On a related note, can we clone Pete DeFazio? I love that guy.
