Snow and ice came through the region I live in, covering just about everything in ice. Power lines litter the streets, and thousands are without electricity. I am, in fact, one of the only people on my block who has power.
The back streets are baaaaad. Covered with ice and down power lines. There's a live power line in my driveway that is weighted down by a tree branch. It's so low to the ground that I could reach out and touch it. Trees are crashing down everywhere you look.
School was canceled for the entire week. That never happens. A state of emergency has been declared, and the city looks like a warzone.
The temperature went up this morning, though, and lots of that ice is going away.
Now there is so much ice melting off of the trees and power lines that it looks like it's raining. Seriously. You could say it's raining chunks of ice shaped like cats and dogs.
The trees and bushes are covered in so much ice that they look as thought they were made of melting crystal. It's actually quite breathtaking... especially when they sparkle in the light.
Anyways, most of the people who lost power won't get it back for another five days or so... I hope everything is fixed soon because it's cold and other people don't have heat!
...........And, holy crap, why is there a huge tree branch on the roof?!
